Job Responsibilities

This project aims to develop materials and methods for additive manufacturing (3D printing) of advanced electronic microrobots. These 3D-printed systems are based on a nanocomposite hydrogel material that can integrate electronic actuators, sensors, and connections into a seamless 3D structure, enabling a new generation of fully organic intelligent systems. The hydrogels consist of composite materials containing water-based nanotubes, such as nanocellulose, combined with electronic materials like conductive polymers, carbon nanotubes, and 2D MXenes.

In the most visionary implementation of this project, the printed robotic actuators could function inside a living body.

The project has three specific goals:

• To develop new materials that can be 3D printed to form a new class of electronic hydrogel muscles.
• To develop 3D printing strategies to manufacture actuators/muscles with these hydrogel materials.
• To develop fully integrated systems that seamlessly combine multiple actuators and other functions in a 3D microstructure.

Requirements

• PhD degree or foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, obtained no more than three years before the application deadline. Relevant fields of knowledge are electrochemistry and materials science.
• Scientific competence.
