Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 inhabitants and over 6,400 employees.

The Community Planning Administration manages and develops both urban and rural areas within the municipality. We have the overall responsibility for planning and creating the physical, legal, and business conditions for a safe and good living environment in Botkyrka. Our 125 employees work to enable good housing and an attractive local environment, regardless of where one is in life.

The Position and Responsibilities

You will complement our GIS team, which currently has four members, and help realize the high ambitions we have in our work.

As a GIS Specialist, you will work on improving and developing work methods and tools and promote increased GIS usage within the municipality. The work can be both independent and in project groups depending on the assignment. Geographic information is a central part of many of the municipality's processes, especially in the community planning process where we contribute expertise that creates benefits for various actors and users in society.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Driving activities and projects within GIS
• Developing technology to refine and make geographic information accessible
• Developing information architecture and integration technology together with our Geodata Coordinator
• Streamlining and developing processes within GIS
• Providing support and internal training in the GIS area

We are currently in an exciting phase with an increased demand for digitization while meeting the growing need to manage and develop existing information and digital solutions. Our unit plays a key role in realizing the administration's vision of a digital community planning process with an uninterrupted flow of information.

We have many exciting initiatives underway to achieve this, including the development of a portal for open geodata and the improvement of our base map in 3D to enable the creation of a digital twin. These measures will contribute to creating a more efficient and integrated digital environment for the community planning process. We are also looking at implementing several open-source solutions for further development of our environment.

We value collaboration both internally within our unit and with other administrations. Additionally, we actively collaborate with municipalities in Södertörn on common operational support and work methods. Together with the Södertörn municipalities, you will participate in exciting development projects, face technical challenges, and engage in creative collaborative efforts to promote a digitally progressive community building.

Who You Are

You have a university degree in GIS or equivalent education. Additionally, several years of work experience in GIS or equivalent experience as assessed by the employer is required.

Furthermore, you are also expected to meet the following requirements:

• Very good knowledge of FME Form.
• Good database knowledge.
• Experience in driving assignments as projects or activities with engagement and focus on results.
• Experience in handling and structuring large amounts of geographic data.
• Possess very strong technical skills in GIS and have a generally high IT maturity.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience with 3D Geodata.
• Knowledge of open-source solutions in GIS.
• Previous work experience in the geodata field in municipal operations.

We also value experience with the following operational systems currently used by us: FME Flow, QGIS, QGIS Server, PostGIS, HAJK, AutoCAD, SQLServer, CSM and SSM, GeoDirekt, and TopoDirekt.
