Technical Engineer - Grounding

Svenska kraftnät is one of the most important players in the sustainable energy transition. With us, you will be offered one of Sweden's most important jobs, where you will contribute to Sweden's electricity supply every day. We need you to succeed in our socially vital mission to electrify Sweden.

About the position

There is a significant shortage of knowledge in the field of grounding, both at Svenska kraftnät and throughout the electricity industry. You will be an important link in the knowledge chain and help ensure that knowledge is preserved during the generational shift the industry is facing.

The Electromagnetic Environment Technology unit consists of eight dedicated and competent technical specialists and a technical project manager with technical breadth, whose primary mission is to support Svenska kraftnät with specialist expertise in EMF, grounding, and induction. The unit provides support to both project and management operations. In grounding, we set requirements for the design of today's transmission network and look forward to future technical solutions for the grounding systems of the transmission network through our technical guidelines. In EMF, we work with risk analyses from a work environment perspective (mainly electric fields) and public exposure (mostly magnetic fields).

As an employee with us, you have great freedom under responsibility to shape your work and professional development. There are also significant opportunities for work within technical committees and collaboration with international actors.

In the role of Technical Engineer - Grounding, you will work with grounding issues, primarily regarding electrical safety for lines, stations, and cables. Furthermore, you will work with requirements setting for the design of grounding and work methods in, among other things, technical guidelines. The role will also include:

  • Technical requirements for the grounding system for overhead lines, stations, and cables.
  • Proposing designs for low-voltage networks located near power lines, as well as any protective measures.
  • Specialist support regarding grounding to technical support and project managers, as well as maintenance engineers in construction projects and management.

In your role as a technical engineer, you will also have good opportunities for personal development and create many contact points both internally within the organization and externally. For example, you may get to work more with technology development and monitoring in the grounding area.

About you

You will join a tight-knit team where we rely heavily on collaboration with each other. We work in a structured and analytical manner to collectively drive work on grounding issues forward, both internally and externally. The unit and its members must be able to stand up for the work and decisions made, both internally and towards the public in response to inquiries.

We are looking for someone who has recently obtained a Master's degree in engineering, such as electrical engineering or physics, or a corresponding field that the authority assesses as equivalent.

Other requirements

  • Theoretical knowledge of induction or practical experience with induction.
