Svalöfs Gymnasium and Adult Education, located in shared facilities, has about 700 students. The school offers four national programs: Vehicle Program, Natural Resource Program, Construction and Civil Engineering Program, and Electrical and Energy Program, the latter of which is conducted as an apprenticeship program. There are also four introductory programs that prepare for further high school studies or work. Around 100 students live in the student accommodation at Svalöfs Gymnasium during the week. Adult education consists of basic and high school studies, SFI, and vocational adult education. The school has approximately 130 staff members who all work with the best interests of the students in mind. The school has developed clear structures and strategies in its work towards set goals to ensure that all students succeed in their studies. The work on values and systematic quality assurance are the most important processes for this. The school's work teams have their own premises and workspaces and are responsible for their own budget and scheduling. Safety and well-being are important, and mentorship at the high school is well-developed.

The adapted high school at Svalöfs Gymnasium offers training in Vehicle Care and Goods Handling as well as Forestry, Land, and Animals. In the adapted high school programs, we focus on providing a safe and stimulating learning environment for students. We offer vocational preparatory education that gives students with intellectual disabilities (ID) and neuropsychiatric variations (NPV) the opportunity to grow and develop both in school and in society. We work in suitable premises, and the entire school operates on the premise that all learning is real. This means that everything we learn should work in the labor market; it should be as close to reality as possible. Therefore, students get to be part of the practical work in the school's various workshops, animal stables, green areas, and gardens. We believe that every student has the potential to succeed and strive to create individualized teaching strategies that promote independence and learning.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are now looking for an engaged vocational teacher with expertise in vehicle care and goods handling. You will work with students who need support to reach their goals. We prefer that you have experience with clear pedagogical methods and working with students with ID and NPV. Ideally, you should be a qualified vocational teacher or have experience teaching in an adapted school, as well as work experience in the field of vehicles. You will belong to a work team and be a mentor for students to ensure that each student receives the support and adjustments they need. The position may also include teaching in common and program-specific subjects in the adapted school form and courses/subjects in the national vehicle program.

Your responsibilities include:

• Planning and conducting instruction in vocational subjects.
• Adapting teaching to each student's needs and conditions.
• Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes students' learning and independence.
• Collaborating with other school staff.
• Participating in planning, evaluation, and development of the operations.
• Applying real learning by connecting practical and theoretical content to teaching.
• Participating in arranging APL placements for students and visiting them will be part of the responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

We expect that you have:

• Pedagogical education or experience as a teacher, preferably within adapted high school.
• Work experience in the field of vehicles.
• Experience working with students with ID and NPV.
• Good ability to use clear pedagogical methods.
• Ability to create good relationships and have a low-affect approach.
• Basic knowledge of digital work tools.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing.
• Strong communicative skills and experience in documenting and following up on students' development.
