Assistant Professor in Mathematics with a focus on Partial Differential Equations

Description of the subject area of the position: The subject area is mathematics with a focus on partial differential equations.

We are interested in candidates whose research profile strengthens the department's research group in analysis and partial differential equations. Specifically, we are looking for an expert in the field of free boundary value problems and particularly in the area of obstacle problems.

Responsibilities:

Teaching, research, and administration. Teaching includes course responsibility and course administration as well as supervision of doctoral students. The position includes teaching at both undergraduate and advanced levels in mathematics. We are looking for someone who is interested in collaborating with the research group in Analysis and Partial Differential Equations.

Follow the development within the own subject area and societal developments that are relevant to the work at the university.

Employment period:

The position as assistant professor can be held for a maximum of six years. The assistant professorship aims to qualify for a teaching position for which higher requirements for eligibility are set. An assistant professor may apply for promotion to associate professor. If the assistant professor is deemed suitable and meets the requirements for promotion, he or she shall be promoted and granted a permanent position as associate professor.

Qualifications:

PhD in mathematics. Primarily, candidates who have obtained their PhD or have achieved equivalent competence no more than seven years before the application deadline will be considered.

Scientific and pedagogical skills. It is required that the pedagogical skills and scientific competence are relevant to the subject area of the position and the tasks included in the employment.

The applicant should have completed relevant higher education pedagogical training for university work, comprising five weeks, or have acquired equivalent knowledge. If there are special reasons, the pedagogical training can be completed during the first two years of employment.

Documented ability to teach in Swedish or English unless there are special reasons.

Personal qualities required to fulfill the position well.

The university will primarily consider the candidate who, after a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skills, is deemed to have the best conditions to carry out and develop the relevant tasks and contribute to a positive development of the operations.

Additional information

Parental leave, part-time work due to child care, union duties, military service, or similar will be considered as work experience and should be stated in the CV.
