We are expanding the number of students at Uppsala Adapted Upper Secondary School and are looking for more special education teachers! Have you taught in adapted education and have experience working with students with intellectual disabilities (ID) and autism? Then you might be the one we are looking for!

Uppsala Adapted Upper Secondary School (Uppsala AG) has two school units: Uppsala AG Fyris and Uppsala AG Jälla. Our school units are located at the same site as the Fyrisskolan and Uppsala Vocational Gymnasium Jälla and consist of approximately 125 students and 80 staff. We are increasing the number of students this fall and will be starting new classes within the individual program. Therefore, we need to hire a few more special education teachers who will work as class teachers. The need may exist at both Fyris AG and Jälla AG.

Your Mission

Your role includes being a class teacher in a class with students in the individual program. As a class teacher, you will work and lead the educational efforts together with a number of teaching assistants. You are responsible for the pedagogical work and are expected to develop and refine the work to make education accessible to all students together with knowledgeable and experienced colleagues.

It also includes being a knowledgeable and responsive colleague in pedagogical matters, suggesting appropriate strategies, methods, materials, and tools in dialogue with others, as well as planning, implementing, evaluating, and developing education based on governing documents and the organization's goals.

Your Background

We are looking for someone who has a Swedish teaching license and a special education degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities (ID). To succeed in this role, you need to have several years of experience teaching in adapted education and experience working with students with ID and autism. You should have a good understanding of the Swedish National Agency for Education's governing documents and curriculum. Good oral and written skills in Swedish are required.

As a person, you have the ability to see the big picture and view issues from a broader perspective. You possess strong pedagogical skills and an understanding of students' varying abilities to absorb knowledge. Furthermore, you are a communicative person who finds it easy to listen and adapt your communication style, and you have good collaboration skills, relating to others in a responsive and smooth manner. Additionally, you are good at structuring, planning, and prioritizing your work.
