Department of Aquatic Resources

The Department of Aquatic Resources monitors and evaluates the condition and development of aquatic ecosystems and how resource utilization affects these ecosystems. The research includes studies of fish and shellfish stocks, ecosystem analysis and interactions, spatial analyses, effects of human impact on fish and ecosystems, fishery management and methods, aquaculture and its effects. Biological advice for management and sustainable use is one of the department's main tasks, as well as being responsible for Sweden's part of the EU's marine data collection program and conducting national environmental monitoring. The department has eight locations, with the main offices in Lysekil, Drottningholm, Öregrund, and Älvkarleby.

Job Responsibilities:

Your main tasks will involve fieldwork, most likely gill net fishing, but it may also include other data collections such as fishing with crayfish traps. You will work in small groups (2-4 people) at various locations in Sweden depending on where the fieldwork is to be conducted. The time period is mid-July to September, and the employment usually lasts 2-6 weeks depending on the assignment.

Qualifications:

We prefer that you are a biologist or have equivalent or ongoing education and extensive experience in fieldwork, particularly in gill net fishing or trawling. You should be computer literate, have a driver's license for passenger cars, and possess good boating and water skills. You are a responsible person with good organizational and collaborative skills, and you should be meticulous. The job will require you to be away from home for several weeks at a time with others. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

Location:

The workplace is in Drottningholm, but you will be stationed at various locations in Sweden depending on where the fieldwork is to be conducted.

Employment Type:

Temporary seasonal employment, starting no earlier than 2025-07-01 and no later than 2025-09-30. The duration of your employment may vary within this timeframe or in several employment periods depending on the fieldwork you will perform.
