Business Description

Sjöpark School is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal middle school in the locality and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has approximately 410 students and about 55 staff members. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements for a middle school and is modern in its design. The school works extensively to create good learning environments, collegial learning, and to establish sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The school also has school nurses and school counselors on site. There are also special educators, social educators, and study and career counselors. Two key educators work to develop our digital competence, and the school has substitute teachers who cover short-term absences. The school is divided into four teams led by a lead teacher. New and unqualified staff are mentored by experienced and qualified colleagues during their introduction and in their ongoing daily work with teaching. The school offers opportunities for students with needs to work in smaller teaching groups. There is a preparatory class for newly arrived students at the school.

Job Responsibilities

As a teaching assistant in middle school, you are responsible for supporting students during the school day based on the individually established goals and plans. You assist and provide care to the student in the activities that take place at school and in close collaboration with educators and the student's guardians.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a high school education or other education that the employer deems equivalent. As a person, you are positive, flexible, attentive, and create good relationships. You have a present and responsive approach to students' varying needs, are a clear leader, and have good collaboration skills. You are independent, responsible, and have an easy time taking your own initiatives. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Upon employment, a criminal record extract is required.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sámi, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an asset when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.
