In the city center, there is Luleå Gymnasieby, a campus area that gathers most municipal upper secondary education programs with about 2,300 students. The students in Luleå Gymnasieby should be given the conditions for lifelong learning by focusing on knowledge, participation, responsibility, and leadership so that they are prepared for working life and as citizens in general. The contacts with the business community are many, and in the local steering groups, the business community collaborates with upper secondary schools to create good conditions for students to be well prepared for the time after upper secondary education.

In upper secondary school, there are also specialized programs, nationally approved sports programs, and apprenticeship programs that strengthen students' opportunities for employment directly after their studies. The Child and Leisure Program can be found within the Kvarteret Lärkan.

We are now looking for a vocational teacher for the Child and Leisure Program with a focus on pedagogical and social work at Luleå Upper Secondary School.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Child and Leisure Program, focusing on pedagogical and social work, is a vocational program which means that workplace-based learning (APL) is included in the students' studies.

You will have both theoretical vocational courses and follow up on students' practical skills at their APL placements within preschool activities and the social services' operations. You will collaborate with the students' supervisors and conduct tri-party conversations. Thus, you will alternate between traditional classroom teaching and supervision/follow-up/examination at the students' APL placements. This requires flexibility and high social competence. Courses you will teach may include: health pedagogy, pedagogical leadership, pedagogical work, social work, special education, among others.

You will coordinate continuous meetings with supervisors in preschool and keep yourself updated through the preschool's development leaders. Mentorship is included in the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a licensed and qualified vocational teacher in child and leisure subjects. If you are also qualified in social studies or English or another common upper secondary subject, that is a plus. However, the emphasis in the position is on child and leisure subjects. You have good subject knowledge combined with pedagogical skill.

Experience from working in preschool or special educational activities is meritorious, as is experience in teaching students with neuropsychiatric disabilities.

You should have high competence and experience with digital tools.

As a teacher, you are a clear leader in the classroom and care about creating good and trusting relationships with the students. Together with your licensed colleagues, you will drive development forward. You should also take independent initiatives and start activities to achieve good results. We also see that you are a responsive person with good collaboration skills. You work structured with others and independently. You can express yourself well in speech and writing. Having worked as a mentor in upper secondary school is a requirement. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

Even if you are not a qualified and licensed vocational teacher, you may be considered for the position, as a temporary employment as an unqualified teacher.

If you become a candidate for the position, you will need to present a valid extract from the criminal record.

A driver's license (B) is a requirement.

Start date: 2025-08-13 or by agreement. A probationary period of 6 months applies.
