The Children and Youth Administration is responsible for Halmstad's municipal preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, after-school care, and cultural schools. Every day, approximately 16,000 children attend one of our facilities.

We are now looking for a qualified special educator/special teacher.

The resource school is a small school (grades 4-9) that works based on a well-developed pedagogical approach tailored for students with extensive needs for special support. All students study according to the primary school's curriculum. At the resource school, students have the opportunity to develop both knowledge and skills. The operation is conducted with a high staff density in a safe, structured, and adapted environment in new premises where the learning environment is well adapted to the operation both indoors and outdoors. Well-being and life perspective are central, and the relationship between student–staff–guardians is a starting point for all work at the school.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role as a special educator/special teacher, you are part of, or lead, the school's student health team together with the principal, school psychologist, school nurse, school social worker, etc. You have close collaboration with teachers, the principal, and other staff at the school. You work both preventively and operationally with students in need of adjustments and support. You recognize the importance of differentiated instruction and accessible learning environments that promote all students' education in the best way, and you are driven to develop sustainable working methods together with colleagues, teachers, and the principal.

You develop the teaching together with colleagues where you share experiences and, with a formative approach, support and challenge so that the teaching evolves. Through, for example, observations, you map and analyze efforts related to students' learning and propose constructive improvements focusing on the quality of teaching and students' learning. You guide educational staff on how teaching and the learning environment can be adapted at both group and individual levels, based on each student's conditions and an inclusive approach.

Through good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians, you communicate high expectations regarding students' learning, where you act as a qualified conversation partner.

You utilize student influence so that students develop ownership of their learning process and provide feedback to the student that advances learning towards set goals and knowledge requirements. You stay updated on current research and use it to develop teaching based on scientific principles and proven experience.

As a special educator at the Resource School, you will receive regular supervision and professional development and be part of the municipality's network for special educational competence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Teacher certification with qualifications for grades 4-9 and special teacher certification or special educator degree.

Experience working in a resource school, in SUND or flex groups, as well as knowledge of AST/NPF is meritorious. Experience with clear pedagogical methods, experience-based learning, modeling, communication, and identity-strengthening approaches. Continuing education in reading and writing acquisition and/or mathematics acquisition. Experience and knowledge of guiding teachers in complex teaching situations.

If you are offered employment within the Children and Youth Administration, you are obliged to present a clean extract from the Police's criminal record for work within schools/preschools. The extract is free of charge and takes about 2-3 weeks for the police to process. Therefore, order in good time!
