The Children and Youth Administration is responsible for Halmstad's municipal preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, after-school programs, and cultural schools. Every day, approximately 16,000 children attend one of our activities.

The resource school is a small school (grades 4-9) where we work based on a well-developed pedagogical approach adapted for students with extensive needs for special support. All students study according to the national curriculum. At the resource school, students have the opportunity to develop both knowledge and skills. The operation is conducted with a high staff density in a safe, structured, and adapted environment in new premises where the learning environment is well adapted to the operation both indoors and outdoors. Well-being and life perspective are central, and the relationship between student–staff–guardians is a starting point for all work at the school.

Since the operation is newly started, you have good opportunities to be involved in its development together with the school's management, student health, teachers, and other staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role as a teacher focusing on after-school care, you will work coaching with the students, focusing on the social aspects of the mentoring role. This is done in close collaboration with the students' teachers, student health, and other staff. Your tasks will involve social training, being responsible for break activities/outdoor activities and the outdoor environment, as well as activities outside of school. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the after-school care activities, including pick-up and drop-off and similar parts of the students' school day. You will also be part of lessons and other activities at the school.

You need to be comfortable with:

  • Understanding the student's needs and individualizing based on these
  • Finding new solutions when the old ones no longer work
  • Staying calm in pressured situations
  • Creating good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues
  • Possibly teaching subjects you are not qualified for
  • Quickly adapting and being flexible in challenging situations

QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed teacher with a focus on after-school care. Experience and knowledge of working with students with ASD/NPF.

Practical/aesthetic competence in areas such as sports and health, art, crafts, home economics, music, outdoor education, or adventure pedagogy is an advantage.

Before employment, you need to show that you have the right to work, as required by the Aliens Ordinance. You do this by proving your citizenship in the EU/EES or Switzerland through a passport, national ID card, or personal certificate together with an identity document. If you cannot do this, you need to present a work permit or show that you are exempt from the requirement for a work permit.

If you are offered employment within the Children and Youth Administration, you are required to present a clean extract from the Police's criminal record for work within schools/preschools. The extract is free of charge and takes about 2-3 weeks for the police to process. Therefore, order it in good time!
