Description of the Culture School

Uddevalla Culture School offers teaching in visual arts, dance, music, and theater for children and young people aged 5–26 years, as well as holiday activities.

At the Culture School, about 28 teachers/pedagogues work, and we meet around 1300 children and young people in our course activities and over 5000 children and young people in our various projects we do together with, among others, schools and youth centers. Our mission is to offer a meaningful leisure time by providing children and young people the opportunity to participate and develop based on their different conditions and levels of ambition. We do this by conducting fun and innovative activities in various forms of course structures and by offering holiday activities and open events both at the Culture School and other places in the municipality. We have an established collaboration with youth centers and schools in the municipality as well as several residential areas, which allows us to operate in many different arenas and meet many children and young people.

Through this mission, we ensure children's and young people's right to culture and cultural expression according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The purpose of the Culture School is to teach and develop children's, young people's, and young adults' aesthetic expressions, to promote a curious lifelong learning. The activities are characterized by the equal value of all children and a norm-critical approach.

Job Responsibilities

• You will teach violin students in both groups and individually.
• You will also participate in and lead string orchestras together with other string teachers from beginners to older students.
• You will work in subject teams with other teachers and be part of working groups responsible for planning joint activities.
• The work includes planning and meeting time as well as working on various projects and activities with other subjects at the Culture School.

We are looking for someone who

• has good collaboration skills, initiative, is flexible, well-organized, and structured with a good ability to work both independently and together with others.
• wants to contribute to our development work together with the teachers at the Culture School.
• wants to develop the Culture School's orchestras by creating more opportunities for violin students to perform with and for others.
• also has experience, knowledge, and methodology to work with group teaching.
• has an artistic drive and above all - enjoys meeting children and young people.
• understands the differences of all people, both cultural and social.
• is open and curious and ready to constantly reconsider your methods.

Qualifications

• We are looking for someone who is confident in teaching violin and orchestra for children and young people.
• You have a suitable pedagogical university education or other education that the employer deems appropriate.
• You have the ability to inspire children and young people to a lifelong learning through your teaching style.
• You play the violin at a high level and are also an experienced orchestra and ensemble musician.
• You master different genres.
• You are flexible and have a good ability to adapt teaching to students' needs.
• Teaching certification is an advantage.

Other

The position is a permanent position at 75% with the possibility of a temporary position up to 100%. You will be employed on a holiday service.
