Job Description

We are looking for a Functional Safety Specialist to strengthen ongoing work in functional safety within our development projects. There is already expertise in the area within the projects, and your role will be to take over and drive the safety work forward to ensure that the products meet applicable safety requirements and regulatory guidelines before launch.

As part of AFRY Linköping, you will have the opportunity to work in-house alongside our dedicated colleagues and participate in exciting development projects within Embedded, Mechanics, and Electronics/hardware design.

Your main responsibilities

  • Review product design, documentation, and test results to ensure compliance with relevant safety requirements and standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and manage safety risks throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Conduct functional safety assessments, including risk analyses and safety-related evaluations.
  • Ensure that safety-critical functions and systems are validated and documented according to applicable requirements. Work together with engineering teams to identify and resolve potential safety issues before product launch.
  • Contribute expertise in safety requirements during certification and compliance processes.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in functional safety, risk analyses, and working with safety-critical systems.
  • Understanding of safety standards such as EN 1175, ISO 13849, or similar – experience from related areas is also valuable.
  • A technical background in mechanics, electronics, or software, with a focus on safety-related systems.
  • Good understanding of safety requirements in product development and validation processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
