The Department of Children and Youth is responsible for Halmstad's municipal preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, after-school care, and cultural schools. Every day, approximately 16,000 children attend one of our facilities.

Östergård School is a primary school with grades 4-9 and an associated after-school program. The school has about 650 students. It is located in central Halmstad with easy access to facilities such as Halmstad Arena. At Östergård School, we work closely in teams, with great commitment to develop our students towards the goals.

Östergård School and its students and staff moved into new, beautiful premises in the autumn term of 2024. For several years, we have been working to challenge the structures of how the school is organized and how we can work differently to give our students the best possible conditions. We are proud of the work being done while continuously striving to develop ourselves every day. As the number of students increases ahead of the autumn term of 2025, we are now looking for someone who wants to be a part of our school!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a passionate Science teacher for Östergård School.

The position involves working in the team connected to grade 7 and following the students through their journey in secondary school. At Östergård School's secondary level, three other qualified Science teachers work with whom you will have the opportunity to collaborate!

As a teacher, you will help develop the school's educational activities. The work consists of planning, implementing, evaluating, and developing teaching together with the team based on our governing documents and the goals of the organization. The pedagogical responsibility that teachers have for students to reach the goals often requires inventiveness, creativity, and flexibility. You have high expectations for the students and can motivate them to achieve good results in their schoolwork by clarifying the goals and knowledge requirements for them. You will collaborate with other colleagues at the school in a non-prestigious spirit where we all support, coach, and have fun together. In the role of a teacher, a good ability to analyze the child's needs and the ability to use a well-adapted methodology for the student and the group is required.

It is important that you adapt your teaching and work in a language-developing way. You are also good at creating good relationships with our students. The sense of togetherness is strong, and with you in our team, you will further enhance that feeling!

Teaching certification with qualifications to teach Science and Technology in grades 7-9.
