The Children and Youth Administration is responsible for Halmstad's municipal preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, after-school care, and cultural schools. Every day, approximately 16,000 children attend one of our services.

Slottsjordsskolan is an adapted primary school located in central Halmstad with close access to forest, sea, and various facilities. The adapted primary school covers grades 1-9, and at Slottsjord's adapted primary school, we work closely in teams, with great commitment to developing our students towards their goals. JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a teaching assistant for Slottsjordsskolan's adapted primary school. As a teaching assistant in the adapted primary school, you will work in the school and after-school care with students' individual needs and conditions. The students have an intellectual disability but may also have other variations in function. You will work together with teachers, resource educators, and other teaching assistants in groups, but also individually with students. You support, help, and assist our students in the activities throughout the school day and in after-school care. You will plan, develop, and implement the students' training and education together.

You will work with the students in various situations, e.g., communication training, working with digital tools, physical training which includes swimming with the students, after-school activities in all school subjects, and assisting the student in daily life based on individual needs. The work requires a clear structure, independence, and the ability to work/adapt teaching in various ways.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a completed upper secondary education with a diploma, such as a teaching assistant education or other education and/or experience that the employer deems appropriate. It is an advantage if you have experience of pedagogical work in schools or adapted primary schools. We place great importance on your ability to calmly meet students in sometimes challenging situations, and we emphasize personal suitability for the job.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with students who have intellectual disabilities, autism, ADHD, or similar variations in function. Both in structured situations and sometimes challenging situations.
• Has great patience, is independent, flexible, and solution-oriented.
• Has an easy time collaborating with others, is attentive, takes initiative, and is responsible.
• Is prepared to support students also regarding medical and physical needs.
• Enjoys challenging the thinking and learning of children, colleagues, and themselves, which creates development and joy at work.
• Is a stable and secure person and has a good ability to create trust with those around them. You can work independently, are clear, action-oriented, attentive, and can adapt to the needs of the student(s). You work calmly and systematically with low-arousal responses and have a positive and inclusive approach to students, colleagues, and parents.

Has a view of students that is characterized by the belief that all people can develop and learn things.

If you are offered employment within the Children and Youth Administration, you are required to present a clean extract from the Police's criminal record for work within schools/preschools. The extract is free of charge and takes about 2-3 weeks for the police to process. Therefore, order in good time!
