Ovako is a pioneer in recycled steel and has reduced its carbon emissions by over 80 percent compared to the global steel industry average. But sustainability is not only at the forefront of production – economic management must also be characterized by smart decisions, careful analysis, and an understanding of how economy and environment go hand in hand.

A central role in a future industry

Stepping into the role of Business Controller at Ovako means taking on a key role in driving business decisions and developing the operations. The role is part of the PU management team at the site in Smedjebacken and is placed within the production flow Smedjebacken-Boxholm, where three rolling mills and a steel mill create products for a global market. Here, economic management is not just about optimizing results and analyzing key figures, but also about proactively working on improvement projects, digitalization, and process development.

As part of the local PU management team and a tight controller team, you as a Business Controller have a clear mandate to influence. From budget and forecasting work to follow-up on investments and profitability analyses – this is a role for those who want to combine strategic thinking with operational understanding.

Examples of tasks:

• Lead the planning process for budget, forecast, and business plan.
• Be responsible for financial management, analysis, and follow-up.
• Support managers and business units in financial decisions.
• Coordinate reporting and contribute to closing work.
• Act as a back-up for controller functions when needed.
• Drive projects and process improvements within finance.

The controller team focuses on developing and improving financial processes. This means streamlining systems, routines, and reporting based on the organization’s needs, with a focus on key figures, productivity, capital, and costs. The team is also responsible for following and implementing the company’s guidelines and follow-up requirements within Ovako Bar.

Are you the one we are looking for?

To succeed in the role, you have:

• Post-secondary education in finance or equivalent experience.
• Experience in qualified controller work, preferably with a background in accounting.
• Experience in finance within manufacturing companies is an advantage.
• Good system skills and proficient user of Excel.
• Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

As a person, you are analytical, structured, and drive your work independently. With a commitment to numbers and high quality, you thrive close to the operations. You also have good collaboration skills and know when to challenge or support in decision-making processes.
