Department of Security and Preparedness

The management office of Region Uppsala is part of Region Uppsala, one of the largest employers in Uppsala County. The management office supports the political leadership and administrations to ensure that the political direction is reflected in the various operations of Region Uppsala, allowing the region to fulfill its role both regionally and nationally. The management office is led by the regional director and has a governing, supportive, and coordinating role within Region Uppsala.

Our Operations

The Department of Security and Preparedness works strategically with operational protection and civil preparedness in the region. The department collaborates with the administrations of Region Uppsala, as well as with several other authorities and organizations. The HR department is organized within the management office and works on behalf of the regional management with responsibility for the overall strategic HR work within Region Uppsala.

We are now looking for someone who wants to continue their career as a strategist in the area of security protection. The position is located in the Department of Security and Preparedness at the operational protection unit. Together with an HR specialist, you will staff the HR security function where personnel security-related tasks are handled, such as war organization and security assessments.

The HR security function is newly established and was created in 2024.

Your Mission

Together with your colleagues, the overall mission is to contribute to the development of both the strategic and operational work within the area of security protection related to personnel security-related tasks.

Your tasks will be based on prioritized and decided assignments, which may be linked to political direction, strategic decisions from corporate management, and/or based on operational needs. This may involve process support, planning, driving, and quality assurance of processes within security protection work and personnel security issues at a regional level. Strategic planning, as well as operational implementation of various types of initiatives within the area, is part of the mission.

In your role, you will work with coordination, follow-up, and development of the systematic security protection work. This includes conducting and quality assuring security assessments, security protection analyses, monitoring and following up on security protection agreements, as well as training and information initiatives. You will also work with the region's war organization, which includes managing and further developing the war placement process and providing support to managers and employees regarding protected personal data.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Swedish citizenship.
  • Post-secondary education in security/security protection or equivalent work experience.
  • Several years of work experience in the area of security protection.
  • Experience in conducting security assessments.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience working in public operations with security and preparedness.
  • Experience with frameworks and methodologies for governance and follow-up of systematic security protection work.
  • Experience in information classification, risk analysis, and risk management.
  • Experience in developing risk and threat analyses.
  • Experience in incident management and security investigations.
  • Experience in handling personnel security matters.

As a person, you are strategic and analytical, with the ability to move down to the operational level when necessary. You need to have a good ability to work independently and in a structured manner, but also enjoy working together with other colleagues in different constellations. You are communicative and have an easy time building trust, as you will conduct conversations of a sensitive nature. To succeed in the role, you should also have good judgment and personal maturity, as much of the work involves contact with applicants and employees within the organization. To effectively advance the work, you should also be proactive.

We Offer

The position is classified in a security category. This means that a security assessment and background check will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Security Protection Act before employment. Swedish citizenship is required for the position. We have high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness and place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The position is a permanent full-time employment. You will be placed at our management office, at the operational protection unit, and may be war-placed in the position.
