Avesta Hospital is a small county hospital that offers local healthcare for residents in southern Dalarna and northern Västmanland. The hospital has a combined clinic that includes emergency care, medicine, geriatrics, and rehabilitation. This provides good conditions for quick and effective care, from emergency reception to hospital wards and further rehabilitation in the patient's home.

The hospital has 42 beds distributed across an emergency care department, an internal medicine department, and a department for acute geriatrics, stroke, and rehabilitation. The emergency department is open around the clock and treats approximately 20,000 patients per year.

A large part of the operation is specialized outpatient care, where various clinics and investigations are offered, for example in cardiology (echocardiography, Holter monitoring, blood pressure measurements, TEE, exercise tests), endocrinology, nephrology (including hemodialysis), gastroenterology (gastroscopies and colonoscopies), sleep medicine (nocturnal breathing recordings and polysomnographies), and dementia investigations. In addition, general internal medicine and geriatric investigations and treatments are offered, including bone marrow sampling, pleural and ascitic tapping, lumbar punctures, and more.

The clinic also has extensive inpatient paramedical care, as well as day and home rehabilitation. In total, we have 200 employees across various professional categories. We place great emphasis on education, and our goal is to be "Sweden's best junior doctor school," which has contributed to our high rankings for medical placements in the AT rankings.

Job Responsibilities

As a specialist in internal medicine, you will have a defined area of responsibility within the clinic's broad operations and a chief physician position. Together with the other chief physicians, you will have significant responsibility for both inpatient and outpatient specialist care. Job responsibilities include on-call duty around the clock, departmental responsibility, as well as outpatient clinic operations and diagnostics.

As an on-call physician, you will have support from a resident physician during weekends to assist with rounds. You will also be a supervisor for junior doctors and/or residents, which means you contribute to the positive educational climate at the clinic.

• Swedish language skills equivalent to at least C1 level
• Swedish medical license and specialist competence in internal medicine and/or a closely related specialty
