The unit 31st Ranger Battalion is a light conventional ranger unit tasked with supporting the Swedish Armed Forces' special forces.
The battalion is a standing unit with high availability and is trained for operations with short preparation time. The unit carries out tasks across the entire conflict spectrum, both within Sweden's borders and in other parts of the world. As a professional officer in the battalion, you must be prepared to undertake international service as this is a natural part of our operations.
The defining profile for the battalion is primarily the ability to conduct rapid movements and foot combat with carried weapon systems. The battalion is well-trained and has developed methods to solve these tasks in conjunction with helicopter and transport aviation units.
The battalion operates in task-adapted combat groups over large areas and often in a different direction than other units, which places high demands on the personnel's physical and mental capabilities. This further imposes significant requirements on individual soldier skills as well as the ability to prioritize the mission and the group over personal needs. In addition to soldier skills, good teamwork, initiative, and high stress tolerance are prerequisites for the professional officer and the group to operate in all situations.
Main Responsibilities
As an intelligence officer in the battalion staff, you will work and develop together with the head of Section 2, the intelligence and security service at the battalion. In your role, you contribute to developing the intelligence capability and security service at the battalion to meet future needs and challenges in close cooperation with other units and international partners.
As an intelligence officer, you are part of the battalion staff that plans and leads the battalion's activities in various time perspectives and supports the battalion commander with decision-making material.
Requirements for the Position
- Completed and approved military basic training
- Completed and approved professional officer training
- Approved employment tests at the 31st Ranger Battalion
- Approved RK at the current level
Meritorious
- B driver's license, manual transmission
- C driver's license
- Military driver's license (TGB16, LTGV, TGB14/15, TGB17)
- Relevant training in intelligence and security service
- Good English reading, writing, and speaking skills
- Previous service in intelligence positions
- Previous international service
- Previous service in ranger units

The Life Regiment Hussars, K 3, has fast and effective units and extensive experience in the intelligence field. K 3 trains a ranger battalion and an intelligence battalion. The ranger battalion is a unit with high mobility that must be able to be the first on-site during an operation. The intelligence battalion delivers intelligence by using advanced technology, personnel on the ground, and unmanned aerial vehicles (RPAS).
