The Functional Unit

The Functional Unit (FunkE) consists of officers, civilian specialists such as doctors and nurses. Our mission is to develop and support the Defense Health Service with guidelines for safe and secure healthcare. FunkE also conducts development and supply of medical materials and pharmaceuticals. In addition, research in the defense medicine area is also conducted.

Main Responsibilities

The work as a staff assistant in the functional unit involves varied tasks to support the head of the functional unit and the management team in their work regarding, among other things, orders, bookings, vehicles, representation, and other administrative tasks.

The work also includes case management in Vidar and our internal case systems. The staff assistant will carry out and develop information dissemination within the unit.

The staff assistant will also be responsible for maintaining functionality and order in the common areas of the functional unit.

Occasionally, the staff assistant will also need to serve in a similar position during exercises.

The Swedish Armed Forces is growing, and the tasks may evolve over time.

Qualifications

• Completed basic military training with a passing result
• Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
• Extensive experience in working with the Office suite
• Driving license B

DESIRABLE

• Staff training or equivalent through the Swedish Armed Forces, Home Guard, one of the volunteer organizations, or similar training that the employer assesses as equivalent
• Experience from working in a military staff during exercises or national/international military operations
• Knowledge in PRIO purchasing/customer carts

Personal Qualities

To fit into the role of staff assistant, you need to be proactive and have an easy time taking on new tasks. You need to be responsible as large parts of the work require you to organize and carry out the work independently.

As a person, you need to be social, have an easy time working in a team, and collaborating with many different people. In the role of staff assistant, you will have several different points of contact.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment form: Fixed-term employment (GSS/K). The employment begins with a 6-month probationary period that transitions into an employment of up to 8 years.

The Defense Medicine Center (FömedC) is the Swedish Armed Forces' center for the function of defense medicine, located in Gothenburg. FömedC consists of a management with a staff, the Swedish Armed Forces Combat School for Defense Medicine (FSS), the Functional Unit (FunkE), and the Hospital Battalion (Sjhbat). At the center, there are licensed healthcare professionals such as doctors, veterinarians, nurses, and more. Here you will find officers, reserve officers, civilian staff, and conscripts. The Defense Medicine Center is part of the Gothenburg Garrison.
