Kristianstad Vattenrike in northeastern Skåne is one of Sweden's most species-rich and diverse areas. In 2005, UNESCO designated Vattenrike as a biosphere reserve - a model area for sustainable development. Naturum Vattenrike and the Biosphere Reserve attract about 100,000 visitors each year. We are looking for someone who, with great commitment, wants to work to preserve and develop the natural values in this unique area!
In the biosphere and naturum unit, 17 people work. We belong to the municipal executive office and are located centrally near buses, trains, and Helge River.
We are a good group with mixed competencies. The tasks are varied, and we work both locally, nationally, and internationally. Work mainly takes place in the office, but field visits occur.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As an ecologist, you are responsible for the conservation and development function in the terrestrial parts of the Biosphere Reserve. You plan and implement ecological projects in collaboration with various actors both within and outside the Biosphere Reserve. Contacts with landowners are an important part of the work. You also assist with your ecological expertise in other contexts, such as in contact with researchers, authorities, inventoryers, or within the municipality's community planning process.
You provide expert support to other municipal departments and work closely with the nature conservation manager and limnologist. You also play an important role in producing informational materials and in the public activities conducted by the biosphere and naturum unit. The tasks can be adapted to some extent based on your special knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS
You who are applying have a scientific university education in biology, nature conservation, ecology, landscape science, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. It is an advantage if you also have training in and experience with GIS (geographic information systems).
It is advantageous if you have experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Documented experience of working with nature conservation
- Experience in project management including budget responsibility, management, nature conservation maintenance, and coordination work
- Experience working with environmental and nature conservation legislation
- Experience in outreach work and collaborations with researchers, authorities, users, non-profit organizations, etc.
- Good species knowledge, preferably within flora, insects, and birds.
- Experience working within a politically governed organization
- Experience working in government
- Work experience in collaboration and dialogue on nature conservation issues
- Knowledge of the planning process and planning work (detailed plans and comprehensive plans)
Since communication and documentation are part of the job, you need to be able to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. We want you to be familiar with working in the Office suite, and it is particularly advantageous if you have knowledge of the QGIS software. You who are applying to us need a B driver's license to easily get around our municipality.
We want you to be an engaged person who can take initiative and is development-oriented. You are good at collaborating and can build relationships through your social and networking skills, where diplomatic ability and a communicative working style are important traits. You also need to be able to work independently and be structured. You can take responsibility for your tasks by focusing on results and being able to carry out projects according to the agreed timeline.
OTHER
The municipal executive office leads, coordinates, follows up, and develops the municipality's operations from a holistic perspective. Here you will find activities such as finance, HR, IT, citizen center, and strategic issues, as well as all common services with cleaning, meal, and transport operations in the administration. The work of the municipal executive office should contribute to a positive development for everyone who lives, works, runs a business, studies, or visits our municipality. The municipal council provides the framework and directives.
