JOB DESCRIPTION

The Environmental Unit is looking for a positive and service-oriented food inspector and permit processor with a broad area of responsibility in supervision and assessment of various industries and risks.

In this role, you will work with supervision and assessment according to food legislation, the Alcohol Act, the Tobacco Act, and the Environmental Code. You will play an important role in ensuring safe food handling and that entrepreneurs and operators comply with applicable laws and regulations for the sale and serving of alcohol, tobacco, folköl, and over-the-counter medications.

Your tasks:

  • Food control according to food legislation (including control of self-monitoring programs, hygiene, traceability, raffs, and labeling)
  • Supervision of drinking water facilities and assessment of analyses to ensure good water quality
  • Processing of permits and supervision for alcohol serving, sale of tobacco, folköl, and over-the-counter medications
  • Assessment and supervision of various activities and risks within the environmental and health protection area
  • Guidance and advice to entrepreneurs, operators, and private individuals to facilitate compliance with regulations
  • Collaboration with other authorities and actors, such as the Police, Rescue Services, and the Public Health Agency

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a university degree in environmental and health protection, food safety, or other relevant education that we consider equivalent. It is an advantage if you have academic training in food legislation, food hygiene, microbiology, chemistry, industrial processes, or public health.

You have good knowledge of food legislation, the Alcohol Act, the Tobacco Act, and administrative law, as well as experience in public authority work. Previous work as a food inspector or permit processor is an advantage, as is experience in supervision of food objects, drinking water facilities, and serving permits.

To succeed in this role, it is important that you have a pedagogical and solution-oriented approach in your public authority work. Since a large part of our work involves guidance and advice, you need to communicate clearly, professionally, and factually with entrepreneurs, citizens, and other authorities.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong sense of service and a professional demeanor
  • Is meticulous and structured, with the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously without compromising quality
  • Has good collaboration skills but can also work independently and take responsibility
  • Has analytical skills and can make well-founded decisions
  • Is flexible and can adapt to changing work conditions and new challenges

Other requirements

  • Good IT skills and experience with case management systems, such as EDP Vision, SYNA, and the Office Suite
  • A valid driver's license (B) is required for the position
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Swedish are a requirement, and knowledge of other languages can be an advantage
  • Working hours are mainly during the day, but supervision may also occur in the evenings and weekends if necessary

The position will be filled subject to the necessary political decisions being made and that it does not need to be reserved for internal use.
