The Health and Medical Care Administration brings together primary care, dental care, and hospital care in a joint administration, organized into county and local healthcare areas. The Local Healthcare Area of Skellefteå includes the Emergency Department, the Medical and Geriatric Clinic, the Rehabilitation Center, the Psychiatric Clinic, as well as Primary Care in Skellefteå and Norsjö municipalities. Together, we strive for good and accessible care.

Here, you will become part of a clinic with both breadth and specialist competence. The care beds are distributed according to medical and geriatric specializations, and most admissions are acute via the emergency department. Outpatient activities include medical, geriatric, and dialysis clinics. The medical clinic also houses day-care activities and a physiological laboratory. The clinic also includes a research unit, which is unique for a district hospital and contributes to a stimulating environment.

We are now looking for a counselor for the Medical and Geriatric Clinic, with duties within the medical area. Here you will have a meaningful assignment in close collaboration with experienced colleagues and secure teams. Job Responsibilities

As a counselor with us, you will have a significant role in supporting patients and relatives when life is affected by illness, treatment, and changed living conditions.

As a counselor at the Medical and Geriatric Clinic, you will primarily work with the medical clinic's outpatient departments, medical wards, and selected teams. You will meet patients within several specialist areas, for example, lung, heart, hematology, gastroenterology, and diabetes clinics. Patient meetings take place in your own outpatient department, on the care ward, or in connection with treatment in day care.

In this role, you will work with qualified assessment and treatment work, crisis and support conversations, motivational interviewing, and psychosocial support for patients and relatives. You will also provide guidance and information about practical support in society.

Through your conversations, you help patients understand, manage, and find ways forward at different stages of illness and care processes. The role also includes providing information and education to patients and relatives.

You will become an appreciated and important part of the teams around the patients, where your knowledge and professional competence contribute to the whole. You are part of the hospital's counselor group, where you receive collegial support and continuous supervision.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work and want to use your competence in a meaningful context within geriatric and medical care. Previous experience of counseling work and talk therapy is meritorious, as is a license as a health and medical care counselor.

You have a good ability to make your own decisions and enjoy working both independently and together with others. As a person, you are responsible, engaged, and curious about a varied daily routine where no day is like the other. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
