In collaboration between the Social Services and Ersängsskolan, Umeå Municipality has established an operational team working with early and preventive interventions for students in need of support. The team consists of two employees from the Social Services' prevention unit, two employees from the school, and a coordinator from the Student Health Service. Your organizational affiliation will be with the Social Services within the prevention unit, and your physical workplace will be at Ersängsskolan.

We are now looking for two youth workers to join our team!

Your Responsibilities

Your role within the operational team, together with your colleagues, is to collaborate to ensure safety and study peace, and to contribute to increased student attendance at school. This work is carried out together with students but also in close cooperation with guardians, both individually and in groups. In this role, you are expected to work independently as well as within a team to conduct preventive work and target specific efforts with students at Ersängsskolan. The ultimate goal of the operational team's work is to increase goal achievement and school attendance.

The operational team is to work proactively at the school to build relationships with students in order to identify and prevent issues. Support is provided to individual students at home or outside the classroom, for example in cases of problematic school absenteeism where the team can help students get to school. This support is given in collaboration with guardians. Support can also be provided to students in groups based on general needs at the school, for example, values-based work aimed at countering exclusion and increasing trust in societal support functions, social services, and the police, among others.

About You

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work as well as previous experience supporting children, young people, and their families. The position also requires a valid B-class driver's license and good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

As an employee in the operational team, it is crucial that you can work proactively, transparently, independently, and flexibly. At the same time, the position places high demands on teamwork skills, as it involves being part of a team and contacting various agencies within the social services, leisure services, police, school staff, student health teams, students, and guardians. You are sensitive and confident in your professional role, with the ability to make correct assessments and prioritizations. Through your engagement and sensitivity, you build trust and relationships with various parties through individual conversations or in groups. • One position is a permanent, full-time employment, starting 2026-09-01 or as agreed.
• One position is a temporary full-time employment, starting 2026-09-01 or as agreed, ending 2027-03-31, with a possibility of extension.

A certificate of good conduct from the Swedish Police Authority must be presented upon employment, in accordance with the Act on Suitability Control.
