What is required for advanced signaling systems along the railway to function – every day, in real-world operations?

Alstom is a global leader in the railway sector and stands behind the trains, systems, and signaling solutions that transport millions of people worldwide every day – safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

Through our innovations, we drive sustainable transport of the future. In Sweden, we are a central player in railway development. With over 1,000 delivered trains, extensive maintenance contracts, and a leading role in the implementation of ERTMS as well as the Swedish Transport Administration’s new traffic control system, we are shaping the infrastructure upon which society relies.

With us, you step into where it really matters — right in the middle of the technology, the projects, and what makes traffic work.

Are you Alstom’s next

Test Leader - Field Operations Trackside?

For you who want to work close to the technology – where systems are tested in real-world operations.

Location: Stockholm, Gothenburg, or Hässleholm

Your role – where technology meets reality

This is not an ordinary testing role.

As a Test Leader, you are responsible for planning, leading, and executing testing and commissioning activities within signaling systems along the railway.

  • You ensure that everything works – not just on paper, but in real-world operations.
  • You work close to the technology, the projects, and the operations, playing a crucial role in ensuring quality, safety, and delivery in some of Sweden’s most advanced infrastructure systems.
  • The role involves travel, as the work takes place at various sites in Sweden and occasionally internationally.

Your mission – you make the systems deliver

You will:

  • Plan, lead, and execute testing and commissioning activities.
  • Develop and quality-assure test documentation (instructions, protocols, reports).
  • Ensure that documentation is reviewed, accessible, and correctly archived.
  • Coordinate schedules together with the Work Package Owner, Installation, and Commissioning teams.
  • Conduct tests and sign off on documentation related to executed activities.
  • Ensure that necessary safety measures (e.g., track closures) are carried out.
  • Ensure that the right competence and authorizations are present on site.
  • Be responsible for work being conducted with a focus on personal safety and quality.

In short: you ensure that the systems along the railway actually work – in reality.

Who are you – you thrive where complexity meets responsibility

You like taking responsibility and working close to the technology in an environment where precision and quality are crucial. You are structured, solution-oriented, and thrive in a role where you drive work forward – even when it is complex.

You have:

  • Experience as a Test Leader / Commissioning Inspector (Signaling).
  • Certification from the Swedish Transport Administration (at least I, Y – Interlocking 95).
  • Advantageous: certification within Interlocking 85 (I, Y, F).
  • Opportunity and willingness to travel (requirement).
  • Good system understanding and technical interest.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems.

You are:

  • Driven and take initiative.
  • Meticulous and structured.
  • Solution-oriented.
  • Comfortable with responsibility and decision-making.
  • A team player who collaborates effectively in various teams.

Other requirements:

  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English.
  • Valid driver’s license (Category B).
  • Good computer skills (Office package).
  • Passed medical examination required before employment (railway safety).

Why Alstom – here you make a real difference

With us, you get not just a job – you get a role with real impact. You become part of an international company where we jointly develop sustainable transport of the future.

With us, you get:

  • The opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology within railway signaling.
  • To be part of a stable and long-term operation.
  • To collaborate in cross-functional teams with high competence.
  • To contribute to society-critical projects.
  • Opportunities for development – both technically and professionally.
  • An international career in a growing industry.
  • Competitive terms and benefits.

You may not think about it every day, but every time a train runs as it should, it is thanks to systems that work – and people who ensure they do.

And it could be you.
