Responsibilities

We are currently seeking an experienced Landscape Architect with strong design skills and experience in leading complex projects within urban environment development.

In the role of Landscape Architect, you will work on designing and project-managing the development of public spaces in Malmö, from early concepts to finished urban environments. You will work closely with colleagues within the department, other departments, and external partners to create attractive places where people thrive.

Your main responsibilities will be to design and project-manage the development of parks, squares, play areas, street spaces, and other public places. You will work on:

  • driving complex projects within urban environment development in collaboration with engineers and other specialists,
  • producing sketches, drawings, and documentation in CAD and using other digital tools,
  • contributing your expertise as a Landscape Architect in mobility and development projects,
  • contributing to or leading investigations and analyses related to, for example, greener urban spaces, climate adaptation, or temporary place development.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a Landscape Architect (300 ECTS credits) and have at least six years of experience as a Landscape Architect. You have strong design skills and experience in strategic planning and development work. You have good knowledge of design processes and are accustomed to producing drawings and sketches in CAD and using other tools. You also have experience leading project groups.

Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is a requirement for the position.

Education in project management and BAS-P is meritorious. Additionally, experience working as a Landscape Architect within municipal operations is meritorious.

About the Workplace

The Landscape and Design Unit plans, develops, complements, and renovates streets, parks, squares, and green areas in the existing city, from a holistic perspective on the urban environment and with the benefit to the residents of Malmö as the starting point. The unit consists of two sections with a total of 26 landscape architects, engineers, and tree specialists who collaborate closely in projects.

The unit is part of the Urban Environment Department, which is responsible for maintaining, developing, and adapting the city for a functioning and attractive urban life. The department ensures that the existing city and new city, both in public spaces and on quarter land and buildings, are managed, profitable, developed, and designed. By combining maintenance, development, and design, an urban environment is created that is sustainable over time and perceived as clean, whole, and safe.

The Property and Street Office owns, develops, and manages the city's land on behalf of the Technical Committee and has the task of enabling a good urban life for the residents of Malmö and the city's business community.
