The Department of Neurology is a highly specialized clinic with regional responsibility for the entire South-Eastern Healthcare Region. The department includes a ward with an acute neurology unit, a stroke unit, a highly specialized investigation unit, and an observation unit. Additionally, there are two outpatient clinics at University Hospital (US) and Vrinnevi Hospital (ViN), as well as a neuromuscular laboratory. The clinic has approximately 150 employees. The outpatient clinics have extensive operations within all neurological diagnostic areas.

Job Description

On ward B181, highly specialized care is provided for conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's, Guillain-Barré, and MS. You will work with both acute care and palliative care and rehabilitation.

Patients often have significant care needs, and helping patients with this is one of the most important tasks for a nursing assistant with us, as well as performing checks and sample collection. After internal training, there is also an opportunity to work on our observation ward.

Work Group

Teamwork is an important part of patient-centered care. With us, nursing assistants, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and dietitians work together.

About You

As an applicant, you must have a nursing assistant degree with a focus on acute care. Applicants without this qualification will not be processed further in the recruitment process. We see that you are interested in and/or have experience within neurology. It is meritorious to have work experience in inpatient care or alternatively more advanced home care or in nursing homes. Since you will communicate with patients, relatives, and colleagues, it is important that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

You use knowledge, skills, and abilities in handling patient meetings or care situations. Since you work in constant dialogue with patients and colleagues, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

As a person, you take personal responsibility for your tasks being carried out. Since our patients' conditions can deteriorate quickly, it is important that you can work structured but also quickly manage to reprioritize your interventions with patient safety in focus. You can work independently but have good cooperation skills because you are part of a multidisciplinary team. You contribute through a positive attitude to a good work environment, improvement work, and realize the importance of good communication at all levels.

Application and Employment

The introduction to your employment is individualized, and you will be supported by a mentor during your first year. We have preference scheduling and use the scheduling tool Tessa. The scheduling includes at least two out of five weekends. A probationary period may be applied.

Before employment in patient-facing work within Region Östergötland, you will be asked to fill out a health declaration.
