At Avaron, you gain the security of a permanent position combined with the variety of working on-site with different clients. We recruit specialists in everything from technology, IT, and industry to project management and business support – and regardless of the assignment, you have a consulting manager there for you and your development.
About the RoleYou will step into a role where the aquatic environment and urban development meet. In a former industrial and harbor area that is to be transformed into a mixed urban district, it is necessary to understand the pollution situation in a harbor basin and assess what measures are required to make the water swimmable. The investigation will serve as important groundwork for the detailed planning process and will cover both sediment, water quality, and the impact of stormwater.
The environment is complex. The harbor basin is affected by incoming stormwater, a culverted stream, and proximity to a wastewater treatment plant, which demands a holistic view and strong analytical skills over time and across seasons. You will work closely with a parallel stormwater investigation to ensure efficient knowledge sharing and clear conclusions. This is an exciting opportunity for you who want to combine aquatic environment, microbiology, and concrete action proposals in an assignment with clear societal benefit.
Responsibilities- You investigate the pollution situation in the harbor basin, focusing on both recent sediments and water quality.
- You plan and conduct sampling of the top two centimeters of the sediments as well as analyses of the water regarding bacteria and virus levels.
- You map relevant stormwater flows into the harbor basin and identify major inflows, with special focus on the culverted stream.
- You analyze how stormwater, precipitation, and varying flows affect water quality and swimability over time.
- You coordinate your work closely with the parallel stormwater investigation to avoid overlaps and create a joint knowledge base.
- You produce a report where results, conclusions, and recommended measures are presented in text, images, and maps, including a preliminary cost assessment of the proposed interventions.
- You have experience from similar assignments, at least two within the last 5 years.
- You have competence in microbiology and swimming water assessment.
- You can produce reports in text, images, and maps in PDF format.
- You can design documents for publication according to the Act (2018:1937) on accessibility to digital public service.
- You have access to ecological competence, such as a hydrobiologist, for assessing the system's function and variations.
- You have previously produced concrete and feasible action proposals including impact assessment.
- You have experience with investigations in harbor areas or other recipients with complex impacts, such as stormwater or wastewater treatment plants.
- Permanent employment at Avaron AB
- Pension benefits
- Wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK per year
We are hiring continuously – please apply as soon as possible.
