At the Social Planning Administration, we are working to make Köping an attractive and environmentally sustainable municipality. Our team consists of approximately 45 employees responsible for the municipality's detailed and comprehensive planning, land and development issues, property matters, port administration, nature conservation, strategic environmental work, building permits, environmental issues, as well as the municipality's mapping and GIS operations.

About the Environmental Unit

The Environmental Unit consists of 15 people working on behalf of the Social Planning Board. Our areas of responsibility include environmental and health protection supervision and food control. We offer varied and developmental tasks with the ambition to provide a stimulating work environment where we create an interesting, learning, and secure workplace together.

We are now looking for an Environmental Inspector with a focus on health protection and small sewage systems. Are you our new colleague?

Job Responsibilities

Your role will involve two main areas:

Health Protection: Part of the position involves supervision within the health protection area, which includes educational facilities, hygiene premises, sports facilities, and more. You will also be responsible for cases related to housing, such as issues concerning heat pumps, wood burning, waste collection, mold, etc.

Small Sewage Systems: The other part of the position involves planning and conducting supervision, following up on measures, and processing permit applications for small sewage systems. You will receive and answer questions from the public and business operators.

You will be largely responsible for your own cases while collaborating closely with colleagues in the Environmental Unit. Together, you will conduct supervision, make assessments, and decide on measures. The work as an Environmental Inspector offers a combination of field work and office work. You will also have contact with other units within the administration, such as the building permits unit and the planning unit, as well as with business operators, other authorities, and the general public.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a university or college degree focused on environmental and health protection inspection, or other education/experience that we assess as equivalent. You should have good knowledge of the Environmental Code legislation, as well as knowledge of other relevant laws and regulations for authority work, such as the Administrative Procedure Act. Previous experience in similar tasks is an advantage.

Since the work is outward-facing, it requires a good ability to conduct trustworthy authority work in meetings with people. You should be able to understand different situations where we meet both business operators and private individuals.

It is important that you can communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. You thrive working both independently and in a group, and want to contribute to the common goals of the Environmental Unit. Since we work with authority enforcement, it is important that you are reliable, confident, and able to keep your cool in stressful situations. You should be able to make your own decisions and maintain a high service level with a professional attitude.

A valid driver's license (Category B) is required as driving is part of the job.
