Water Action Coordinator – Köping Municipality
Do you want to create tangible environmental benefits together with landowners, associations, and businesses? Köping Municipality is seeking a Water Action Coordinator for a three-year LOVA project. The role involves coordinating and supporting local actors to ensure more water measures are implemented – at the right pace, in the right place, and with the right support all the way from idea to execution.
You will belong to the Community Planning Administration and be stationed at the Land Unit, but the project is municipality-wide and covers all catchment areas within the municipality.
Project employment, with the project period running from 15 August 2026 – 15 August 2029.
1 position(s).
RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of Water Action Coordinator focuses on contributing to the implementation of measures proposed in the municipality's Water Plan and Wetland Plan, as well as identifying other relevant measures and stakeholders. The goal is to restore water environments and reduce eutrophication in the municipality's lakes and waterways. You are expected to, among other things, conduct two interest meetings per year, develop an information package tailored for Köping (printed material as well as content for web and social media), and work towards initiating at least three measures during the project period.
As the Water Action Coordinator, you are the hub in the local water action work. You combine field visits, analysis, and collaboration by:
- Building and maintaining dialogue with landowners, farmers, associations, businesses, and authorities.
- Supporting from idea to implementation (planning, documentation, contacts).
- Identifying and prioritizing action areas and interventions.
- Supporting regarding financing/grants and, if necessary, permits/notices.
- Planning and conducting meetings and contributing to communication.
- Monitoring, documenting, and contributing to the project's reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who wants to work concretely with water issues and has a relevant higher education/university degree (e.g., limnology, hydrology, ecology, agronomy, soil science, or environmental science). We see that you have prior experience and familiarity with collaborating with many actors and express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. It is meritorious if you have experience in action work (eutrophication/wetlands/restoration), coordination in collaborative projects, meeting/workshop facilitation, and information efforts, as well as work with water management/catchment areas.
As a person, we see that you are relationship-building and receptive, structured and driving, enjoy switching between office and field work, and are solution-oriented when many interests need to be met.
A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.
We welcome your application!
Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
