The disability care services in Umeå Municipality aim to be a resource that frees up and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

Ordinary housing is organized within the disability care services, offering short-term supervision, short-term accommodation, respite services, home help, and the National School for Children and Young People. We also provide day activities/employment, supported housing, and dependency resource teams for adults over 18.

Day activities should contribute to meaningful engagement, personal development, and promote participation in society based on the participant's needs and conditions. The overarching goal of day activities is to develop individual independence, build participation, create a sense of coherence, and provide opportunities for work.

Nejde's Day Activity Center is a group activity center with the themes of natural movement, recycling, and the environment. The activities consist of both indoor and outdoor options.

Participants work together, with a strong focus on interaction and practicing social situations. We collaborate with employers, relatives, and other external actors.

We are now looking for a support assistant who wants to make a difference!

Your Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you will plan, lead, structure, and develop activities and tasks based on each participant's individual needs. Your work aims to create meaningful engagement and provide conditions for increased independence among participants. You will become part of a work team where you jointly are responsible for planning the activities and designing the participants' individual schedules. The role also includes documentation, such as record-keeping, as well as creating and following up on implementation plans.

Working hours are during the day, but there may be work in the evenings and on weekends. Coordination takes place between our different units.

About You

You are a person who has the ability to create structure, plan, and motivate individuals in their daily lives and development. To thrive in this role, you need to be confident in both independent work and group work. You are professional in your approach, collaborative, and have basic computer skills. Personal suitability is highly valued. You are also flexible, create continuity, and contribute to a sense of security. You work with a low-affective approach and use clarifying pedagogy to strengthen communication and interaction. We place high demands on the ability to meet the target group professionally and to establish and maintain agreed-upon structure in the activities.

Requirements

  • Education as a social worker, childcare worker, or other behavior-oriented education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Knowledge and experience of working with people with autism and intellectual disabilities
  • Experience working within disability care services
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
  • Basic computer skills
  • Category B driver's license
