The Disability Care department in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource in close proximity and interaction that frees up and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life.

Ordinary housing is organized within the Disability Care department, offering short-term supervision, short-term accommodation, relief service, home help, and the National Gymnasium for children and young people. We also provide day activities/occupational programs, supported housing, and dependency resource teams for adults over 18 years old.

We are launching a staff pool within the Children and Young Adults area of Disability Care, which will cover absences of permanent staff in our children and young people's activities, including short-term accommodation and short-term supervision. Therefore, we are now looking for several support assistants who want to join this journey from the start!

Your responsibilities

Together with your colleagues, you support the individual's ability to live as independently as possible and contribute to a safe and stimulating environment. You plan and carry out individually adapted activities such as walks, play, crafts, and games to promote social participation and create a meaningful leisure time. The work includes supporting and assisting with communication, care, and meals. An important part of the job is also collaborating with parents and other networks around the individual to ensure that the person receives the support they need.

The work also includes documentation, record keeping, drawing up implementation plans, and medication management.

About you

As a person, you are calm, secure, and engaged, with your heart in the right place. You have good collaboration skills and a professional approach towards users, relatives, and other stakeholders. You share our values and strive to develop the operations through continuous improvements. You are aware that building relationships may take time, which you achieve by being creative and playful in your interactions. Furthermore, work within our children and young adults' activities requires good physical fitness, as heavy lifting may occur. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Nursing and Care program, Child and Leisure program, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
• Experience of working with the target group of people with disabilities within LSS (Social Services Act), school, or other deemed equivalent.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing, to communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, and to write and read care documentation.

Merits

• Previous experience working with people with autism.
• Experience working with clear pedagogy (tydliggörande pedagogik).
• Experience working with aggressive behavior, threats, and violent situations.

Employment information

We are seeking several positions for full-time work, starting 2026-10-01 or as agreed. The positions are scheduled for day/evening/weekend or awake night shifts on weekdays and weekends. In the application form below, you can choose which position(s) you are interested in.

As an employee within the staff pool, you are covered by a pool agreement which entails a salary supplement of 2,500 SEK (full-time) and compensation for travel in your work.
