Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe's leading university hospital by 2032. Together with our patients, we work for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation within a cohesive healthcare system in the Region of Västra Götaland. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, where the patient is always at the center. We offer local and regional healthcare, as well as highly specialized care for patients across the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength, contributing to knowledge exchange nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new ways of working, we can simplify life at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality.
About the Department
The diseases we investigate and treat are much more than just "crooked fingers." We have the opportunity to provide our patients with lifelong care characterized by knowledge, security, and care. We have high and good accessibility for our patients, and they are usually very satisfied with their contact with us. Through research and current treatment methods, the majority of our rheumatology patients can live their lives as usual.
The department has two clinics, one located at Sahlgrenska University Hospital and one at Mölndal Hospital. The clinics are open during the day, and once a month we have an evening clinic at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
Job Responsibilities
The nurses in the department spend the majority of their working hours providing telephone advice and counseling via 1177, including handling test results, assessing actions, and following up with patients. A portion of the work involves physical visits at our nurse-led clinic. The tasks require competence in advanced matters and include, among other things:
- Telephone advice where you independently address patient inquiries and assess further actions
- Handling and signing of test results, a significant part as many of the medications our patients are on require control sampling
- Assessment of the need to book on-call times with a doctor
- Coordination and follow-up conversations with patients
- Drop-in visits to the nurse
- Certain blood sampling and medication treatment
- Patient schools where the nurse has a clear and defined role, focusing on providing well-informed and secure patients
- Conducting medication information and training in injection techniques for medication pens
Additionally, we work interprofessionally around the patient with nursing assistants, doctors, social workers, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.
What We Offer
As a new nurse with us, you will receive training from an experienced nurse who will then serve as your mentor. We want you to feel secure, and there is always someone nearby when you need support. We have planned outpatient clinics at Mölndal Hospital and Sahlgrenska University Hospital, but we can offer some rotation to our ward or the day-care unit IC at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
The nursing group has time for competence development, and we have our own education that gives you the opportunity to become a specialist nurse in rheumatology and thereby see patients at our specialist nurse clinic, which includes, among other things, assessment of joint status.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with a few years of work experience as a nurse, preferably with experience in clinic work and/or knowledge within rheumatology. You meet patients with warmth, respect, and a pedagogical approach. You have a good ability to see the whole person in a care context and work health-promoting by motivating patients to self-care and increased well-being.
You thrive in a varying pace and work equally well independently as in a team. You collaborate well with colleagues in different professional roles and have clear and professional communication in meetings with patients and relatives. Furthermore, you are structured, responsible, and have a good ability to plan and prioritize your work based on the department's needs. We see that you are confident in yourself, have good empathetic skills, and contribute to good treatment as well as a positive and developing work environment. In the decision regarding employment, we naturally look at personal suitability.
Selection and interviews take place continuously during the application period; you are welcome to apply today!
We warmly welcome your application and invite you to become part of our department!
