Torvallaskolan is a secondary school (grades 7-9) with approximately 235 students. Our school is an inspiring workplace where we put the student at the center. Everyone should feel included, responsible, respected, and secure. At Torvallaskolan, we have a positive view of students and high expectations of each other. We employ a language-developing approach in all operations and take our roles as adult role models very seriously. Our goal is to create a good operation with a high level of knowledge and strong social competence, together with parents and students, giving our pupils the best prerequisites for success in life. Together, we can make a difference every day.
Your new job
We are now looking for you who are a certified special needs teacher with subject qualifications primarily in Swedish/Swedish as a Second Language (SVA) for grades 7-9. If you also have subject qualifications in English, it is an advantage. Your experience in teaching both small and large groups will be very important for the assignment, as each year presents different challenges and needs. It is the needs of our students that drive us, and the organization adapts accordingly.
You will be part of a team of teachers where you together plan and are responsible for the students' education and development. In your assignment, you will to some extent work with students in the study hall (individual teaching group). Your focus lies in creating the best conditions for each student in a safe and trusting environment. You support students in their social and academic development. You challenge students to take initiative, develop their interests, and take responsibility for themselves and others. We also need to provide significant support to our newly arrived students through instruction in SVA and M2SVA (Swedish as a Second Language for Mother Tongue Speakers).
In your assignment, it may also become relevant to provide mentoring for some of our students. In your role as a mentor, you have specific responsibility for a group of students, giving you the opportunity to follow their academic development and personal maturity more closely. As a mentor, you inform and keep the student's guardians updated on the student's academic progress through regular development meetings.
At Torvallaskolan, you are offered exciting assignments, work in modern facilities, and opportunities for development.
