Personal Assistant – Give a child a meaningful everyday life

Personal assistance is a needs-assessed support service designed to enable people with disabilities to participate in society and live as independent a life as possible with the help of personal assistants. The activity is part of the Health and Care Sector at Skövde Municipality.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you who want a rewarding and developing job. In the role of personal assistant, you have the opportunity to contribute to our users being able to achieve the highest possible quality of life. Based on individual needs and wishes, you support our users by being a practical and everyday support where you help them with activities, personal care, and leisure activities.

We are a team and we support and help each other. In the role of personal assistant, you contribute to the operation with your valuable in-depth knowledge in the field.

Your main placement will be with a girl of primary school age. She always needs to have an adult close by who interprets and supports, listens, and initiates. Your work involves creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for her at home and at school.

You are an important part of her everyday life and development and will have a central role in finding new angles so that she can develop, both physically and cognitively.

Your work includes continuous contact with the habilitation center and collaboration with teachers and other professionals in the school. You are responsible for providing good and safe care as well as planning and carrying out activities. The goal of the operation is to offer the child a meaningful everyday life with the child's needs and wishes at the center.

Within the Health and Care Sector, we work flexibly between the different units. This means that you will also work shifts in other matters than the one you normally work in.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a high school education and passing grades from the Care and Nursing program or the Child and Youth program, or other equivalent education. We would like you to have post-secondary education in a field relevant to the operation, for example, personal assistant training or treatment assistant training. It is positive (but not a requirement) if you have experience from working with mental or physical disabilities and/or experience from working according to Individual Needs at the Center, IBIC. Experience of delegated tasks, clarifying pedagogy, low-affective approach, and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) is also meritorious.

As a person, you are calm and have a respectful, good, and adapted approach. To succeed in the role, we see that you have good cooperation skills, are solution-focused, and have an easy time adapting to new conditions. To thrive in the role, we believe you have the ability to take personal responsibility in your professional role, are proactive, and are accustomed to working independently.

We are therefore looking for you who is a secure person and keen on creating conditions for a meaningful everyday life for a child with great challenges. If you are inventive, in good shape, and have an interest in playful movement games, you fit well into the person we are looking for.

You will work closely with the child's family, so the work requires that you have an easy time cooperating and at the same time can work independently.

In this role, it is important that you can communicate orally and in writing in Swedish because you and the user need to understand each other, but also to be able to carry out documentation. You are computer literate and preferably have experience of social documentation.

Upon employment, an extract from the police criminal record must be presented.
