About the Role

Do you want to work with technical solutions that truly make a difference – both today and for the future energy supply? As an Obsolescence Engineer at Forsmark, you will play a key role in securing the supply of critical components at one of Sweden's most important energy facilities.

Obsolescence is a growing global problem as many nuclear power plants have been in operation for extended periods, leading to more components becoming obsolete and no longer available for procurement. Since most plants aim for a longer operational life than originally intended, addressing this issue has become increasingly important.

As an Obsolescence Engineer, you will join the Components group within Maintenance Engineering at Forsmark, responsible for the procurement and handling of spare parts and obsolete equipment. In this role, you will proactively manage the obsolescence of technical equipment to find replacements. You will identify risks, develop solutions, and contribute to ensuring sustainable and long-term operation of the facility. You may also participate in various projects and special groups together with other departments or Nordic nuclear power plants, where you will exchange experiences to raise the overall knowledge level in the field.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Identify and analyze obsolete technical equipment.
  • Develop and propose replacement components for end-of-life products.
  • Initiate and drive investigations into replacement solutions when necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance engineers, the technical department, procurement, and suppliers.
  • Manage, update, and further develop the obsolescence database.
  • Educate and coach internal staff on obsolescence issues.
  • Actively participate in national and international networks and interest groups.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are driven and responsible, approaching your work with great commitment, independence, precision, and structure. At our company, you will collaborate across departmental boundaries, making your relationship-building skills and positive attitude towards collaboration particularly valuable. We also believe that your solution-oriented and creative side will help you find innovative ways forward when facing challenges.

We see that you have:

  • A technical education, at least high school level (post-secondary education is meritorious).
  • Experience or knowledge in areas such as mechanics, electrical engineering, instrumentation, and control equipment (I&C).
  • Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both verbal and written.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience from the nuclear power or process industry.
  • Knowledge in Electrical, I&C, or Mechanical engineering.
  • Experience working in SAP.
