Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also executes closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse problems across the country. Working at SiS means your professional life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work within our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing change.

SiS Youth Home Stigby on Visingsö has space for 35 young people and receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial problems, criminality, and substance abuse. We are divided into an MBB unit (reception and needs assessment), four treatment units, and a discharge preparation unit in Jönköping.

Job Description

We are now looking for a night staff member for our open unit in Jönköping.

Stigby has an integrated care chain, where the young person is gradually guided towards a higher degree of personal responsibility, following the young person's motivation and individual ability. The work on the open unit is focused on treatment work in more open forms, where you will work with young people who have lived in an institution for a longer period and are assessed as ready to handle housing in more open forms with a higher degree of independence. Activities mainly take place outside the unit and are based on establishing the young people in pro-social contexts. The goal is to equip the young people to manage an independent life in important areas such as housing, employment, leisure, and pro-social contacts. The work requires independence, experience, and personal maturity.

As a night treatment pedagogue, you help young people navigate life by being a secure and stable role model. You are responsible for the safety of the unit at night. The duty involves working alone on the unit and includes supervision tasks as well as documentation. The work requires a high degree of independence, precision, and knowledge of working environment and safety.

Working hours are scheduled for nights, awake duty.

Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our engagement, and our attitude.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training alternates between theory and a guided introduction, preparing you for the therapist role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's value base, which is to be a place for change. As a person, you are secure in yourself and find it easy to build relationships with young people as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in stressful situations. You cooperate well with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

You must also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work, or education from a university such as social worker, social pedagogue, or other education we consider equivalent
  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., from institutional placements, psychiatry, HVB (home for care or supervision) operations, or healthcare and social care
  • Category B driver's license
  • Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing
  • You have an interest in working with vulnerable young people who need support and are a good adult role model. You can share your security and stability.
  • Being a colleague who shares knowledge and contributes to a sense of community at SiS are other qualities that make you interesting.

We place great emphasis on your personal suitability.

At SiS, we care about good employee relations. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration.
