Opportunity to be part of Värmdö's acclaimed digitalization and development work! We are now looking for a Coordinator for our GIS operations.

The Map and GIS Unit currently consists of 13 employees responsible for the municipality's map supply. This includes, among other things, field surveys, production of new construction maps and base maps, maintenance of the primary map and water/sewer pipe maps. Building, address, and apartment registration, as well as web maps and GIS coordination, are also included.

The role involves, among other things:

• Coordinating and developing the municipality's GIS operations
• Planning, monitoring, and documenting activities and development initiatives
• Collaborating with various municipal departments to identify needs and create efficient GIS solutions
• Planning, prioritizing, and distributing tasks together with the Head of the Map and GIS Unit
• Collaborating with other municipalities
• Managing and developing geographic information in databases, map services, and web applications

Today, the Map and GIS Department uses Hajk, QGIS, FME, FBwebb, VA-banken, ISM, ESPA, and TopoCAD. Our new GIS platform is primarily based on open source: Hajk as a web map application together with PostGIS and geoserver running on Ubuntu servers in a Docker environment. In addition, FME Flow and FME Form are important integration, analysis, and automation tools.

We are looking for you who are educated as a GIS engineer or have other education that the employer considers equivalent. You have at least a couple of years of work experience in GIS. Meritorious is good knowledge of the digitalization of the urban planning process, databases, experience in handling geographic data, e.g., analysis, processing, and visualization, open source, and AI.
