We are looking for an engaged youth coach for Meeting Point Zonen in Andersberg who wants to make a difference during children's and young people's free time. The assignment consists of inspiring, enriching, and enabling an equal and meaningful leisure time for children and young people aged 12–16. Meeting Point Zonen in Andersberg is part of the unit Youth Meetings, which is responsible for offering safe meeting places for young people throughout Halmstad Municipality: Horizonten in Fyllinge, Zonen in Andersberg, Hype on Vallås, and United in Oskarström.

Your responsibilities

The youth coach's assignment involves supporting young people into various types of activities that are based on and require young people's own active engagement and responsibility. You coach their ideas, strengthen their participation, and guide them in creating their own projects and events.

In the role of youth coach, you help shape safe, equal, and inspiring environments where young people not only feel welcome but want to stay, grow, and develop together with us. You will work in the open operations at the meeting point as well as in outreach activities in schools and other places in the municipality where young people are present, to capture the needs and interests of children and young people.

The daily work is based on a promoting perspective and is built on young people's interests. As a youth coach, you help lead and plan a wide range of different theme and group activities such as sports activities, cultural experiences, creative creation, dance, and more. We also offer a varied activity program throughout the year, with a special focus on activities during holidays.

The assignment also includes collaborating with other important actors in the municipality (social services, leisure, and school) with the aim of reaching young people at risk and offering young people early coordinated interventions and an opportunity for meaningful leisure time.

You will work during children's and young people's free time, which means you will work on average two weekday evenings per week and every other weekend.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • Have a post-secondary education in behavioral science, health pedagogy, or social pedagogy, youth leader training, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Have experience in leading and guiding young people, as well as involving and inspiring young people. You are sensitive, motivated, and good at building relationships.
  • Are creative and solution-focused and can plan and adapt activities based on participants' interests.
  • Have previous experience working with young people, preferably in socio-economically disadvantaged areas. If you also have experience working in culture or association life, it is a plus.
  • Can work independently as well as in a group and take responsibility for activities and projects.
  • Are a secure adult who strives to develop youth operations forward.
  • Have a B driver's license.

Great importance is attached to personal suitability.

Other information

To ensure quality in the recruitment process at Halmstad Municipality and to enable good communication with our applicants, we ask you to apply via Grade/Varbi and not via email or paper format.

We value the qualities that an even age and gender distribution, as well as ethnic and cultural diversity, bring to the operations. We therefore welcome applicants who contribute to this.

Before employment, you need to show that you have the right to work, as required by the Aliens Ordinance. You do this by proving your citizenship in the EU/EEA or Switzerland through a passport, national ID card, or certificate of personal data together with an identity document. If you cannot do this, you need to present a work permit or show that you are exempt from the requirement for a work permit.

To be considered for employment, you need to present an extract from the police's criminal record register for work with children in activities other than school and childcare. The extract is free of charge and takes approximately 2–3 weeks for the police to process.

Interviews are planned for week 33. The recruitment process takes place during the holiday period, which means that the hiring manager is on leave during part of the application period. For questions, the hiring manager returns to work on July 20.

The position is filled on the condition that it is not taken by surplus personnel.
