We are looking for personal assistants for an 18-month-old boy with a tracheostomy in Björkekärr, east Gothenburg. The boy's needs require supervision and support around the clock. Since the boy breathes through a tracheostomy cannula, you will always work in pairs of two assistants to ensure his breathing functions correctly. A central part of the job is preventing blockages in the cannula by regularly removing mucus/saliva with a suction catheter and administering mucolytic inhalations. The boy also has a feeding tube through which he receives his food, and he needs mucus mobilization and position changes. The role also involves care and social interaction with the boy.

As an assistant in this assignment, you are offered a rewarding job with a happy, social, and cozy little boy. The family consists of the boy's mother and father, and a younger sibling on the way. As an assistant, you will work in close proximity to the boy – both at home and when the family goes for walks or outings. The family has an active lifestyle, and the mother, who is on parental leave, attends open preschool with the boy, among other activities.

It is important that you, as an assistant, like children and that you, working daytime hours, enjoy the family's active and social lifestyle. It is a big plus if you have an interest in alternative communication and sign language.

Other requirements for you as an assistant in this assignment:

• You are a non-smoker.
• You have fluent Swedish in speech and writing.
• Education as a nursing assistant is a merit.
• Previous experience with tracheostomy is an advantage.

It is also desirable that you are cheerful, positive, and have a salutogenic approach. The personal chemistry and interaction between you as an assistant and the employer are crucial for the quality and experience of the work.

You will receive introduction to the medical tasks at Queen Silvia Children's Hospital as well as at home.

About the employment
Employment type: Fixed-term for the duration of the assignment. 85–90 %.

We offer a fixed hourly wage according to agreement. Other compensations according to collective agreement (Fremia/Communal – Personal Assistance).

Working hours will be scheduled during the day and evening, as well as every other weekend.
