Workplace Description

The HR Section at Lund University has a consolidated responsibility for developing, coordinating, and supporting the university's HR processes. Within the section, strategic and operationally close work is conducted to ensure Lund University remains an attractive employer, providing long-term strategic competence supply, good working environment, and professional employer support.

The role of Jurist is a new position within the HR Section and will be located at the Agreements and Negotiations Department. The department consists of five specialists and a negotiation manager, forming Lund University's overarching specialist competence in central employer issues spanning broadly across labor law, employment, wage formation, negotiation, transition, and labor shortage. There is also a senior labor law jurist on the HR Section who is an important collaborator.

One of the university's most important strategic goals is increased international impact, which places high demands on reception and support for our international employees. A secure, competent, and accessible support function for the migration process is a crucial factor in this work. The role's main area of responsibility includes migration law advisory services, as well as support within labor law and higher education-specific regulations.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The position is a permanent role as a Jurist at the HR Section with a primary focus on migration law support in an international university environment. The role involves advising, processing, and developing routines within the migration area, as well as some labor law advisory services.

The role includes among other things:

  • Ongoing migration law advisory services to local HR functions and in individual cases to employees from third countries
  • Processing and coordination of complex migration cases, extensions, and changes of residence and work permits
  • Support management and HR in ensuring the rights of international staff to maintain employment at the university
  • Develop, improve, and manage university-wide processes within the migration area and/or HR area in close collaboration with the university's process groups and contribute to the development of routines, working methods, and guidelines within the employer area
  • Monitor the migration law area, analyze migration law changes, and interpret them in the context of the university
  • National participation and influence work regarding the migration law needs of the higher education sector, actively contributing to national collaboration between universities through relevant networks and collaborating with other authorities
  • Train within the migration area and labor law, and present cases to management groups, union partners, etc.
  • Processing and advisory services within labor law and higher education-specific legislation.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are that you have:

  • Relevant academic degree: Master of Laws (Juristexamen) or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in processing migration cases
  • Understanding of the connection between migration law, labor law, and social insurance law
  • Good ability and experience in presenting and training within the migration area
  • Very good communicative skills in speech and writing in Swedish and English

Meritorious:

  • Experience with labor law cases, labor law advisory services, and/or negotiations.
  • Professional experience from public sector operations
  • Good knowledge of the Higher Education Act and the Higher Education Ordinance (e.g., educational appointments, merit appointments, etc.)

To succeed in the role, you have a coaching, patient, and pedagogical approach, as well as the ability to act as qualified support in time-pressured situations with significant operational impact. You work systematically, have high integrity, and communicate legal content in a clear and pedagogical manner. You have a very good ability to independently plan and carry out your tasks and a high degree of flexibility as well as the ability to quickly adapt.

You are confident in your professional role, analytical, and enjoy working together with other specialists. You are willing to share your competence and appreciate joint reasoning in complex issues.

The employment is a permanent position with a scope of 100 percent, with start date as agreed.
