Gällivare Municipality is seeking an engaged communicator (fixed-term contract) who wants to strengthen our external and internal communication. As a communicator here, you play a key role in making socially important information clear and accessible.

The position belongs to the Growth and Attractiveness Department, which is part of the Support and Development Administration. The department's mission is to create conditions for long-term and sustainable growth, a strong business life, and an attractive municipality to live and work in. Gällivare Municipality is currently undergoing societal transformation combined with an expanding mining industry. We are also facing major industrial investments in the future, leading to an increased need for labor. The department's focus is to coordinate, initiate, and drive growth and attractiveness work that is strategically important for Gällivare Municipality.

We are now looking for a temporary communicator to replace the permanent incumbent during parental leave. You will be part of the communications unit, which consists of communicators, a graphic designer, an information assistant, and a web manager. You will also collaborate closely with other roles within the department. The communications unit is a support function responsible for coordinating the municipality's message, developing the municipality's digital channels, and strengthening the municipality's overall brand. Responsibilities

In the role of communicator, you will work both strategically and operationally, acting as an advisor and executor. You will work with all our internal and external communication regarding Gällivare Municipality and the place brand via the municipality's channels. Your main responsibilities include:

• Planning, producing, and publishing content for our digital channels (website, intranet, and social media), as well as monitoring and responding to comments.
• Providing professional communication support and advice to the municipality's administrations and managers.
• Maintaining ongoing contact, dialogue, and collaboration with the municipality's administrations to plan relevant communication initiatives.
• Writing informational materials, press releases, and running campaigns.
• Ensuring that the municipality's communication complies with current legal requirements, guidelines, and practices.
• Brand work (place and employer brand).
• Environmental scanning, monitoring events in the municipality, and keeping up-to-date with developments in key issues.
• Evaluating and following up on implemented communication initiatives.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has completed a relevant higher education degree in media and communication science, journalism, or marketing.
• Has experience in operational and strategic communication work, preferably from municipal or other public sector operations.
• Has very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish, write and adapt texts, and shape and convey messages for different target groups in different channels.
• Has experience working with various publishing tools and digital channels.
• Has experience providing professional communication support and advice.
• Has worked with strategic communication planning.
• Sees opportunities in digital communication and is confident in handling various digital tools.
• Experience in crisis communication is considered an advantage.

Personal suitability is highly valued. In accordance with the National Minority Language Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is considered an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time, fixed-term contract, latest until 2027-08-31.
