Your Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you are responsible for the development and design of mechanical systems and components for defense technology applications. You work through the entire product development process – from concept and detailed design to production documentation and change management. You will work on designing and further developing robust systems for military applications. The work is carried out in various integration projects, such as integrating a weapon system into a vehicle, creating a command post from a container with an integrated workstation with computers, etc.
You collaborate closely with electrical engineers, system engineers, and production to ensure a robust and manufacturable solution.
Examples of tasks:
- 3D modeling and detailed design in Autodesk Inventor
- Creating assemblies, drawings, and tolerancing
- Managing product data and revisions in Vault
- Design of sheet metal, welded, and machined parts
- Selection of materials based on strength, weight, and environmental requirements
- Production of manufacturing documentation and assembly instructions
- Change management and technical documentation
- Technical support to production and verification
Your Profile
We believe you have a relevant post-secondary education and/or work experience from similar roles. You therefore also have good experience with Autodesk Inventor Professional 2024 as well as PDM management in Vault. To succeed in the role, you have a good understanding of drawing standards, tolerances, and production technology. You also have experience in mechanical design within industrial operations.
We would like you to have previous experience in configuration control and change management, and experience working in the business system IFS Sherpa is considered an asset. Experience from the defense industry or other operations with high quality and documentation requirements is also considered an asset.
The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the current security clearance regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for specific citizenship.
