We are looking for an Engagement Developer who wants to strengthen young people's opportunities to influence society in Värmland.

As an Engagement Developer, you are responsible for creating engagement, building relationships, and carrying out activities that strengthen young people's influence and participation. You work closely with young people, but also together with decision-makers, civil servants, and other partners who want to develop their work regarding youth influence.

About the Project

Youth Hub Värmland is a development project where Youth 2030 Movement, together with Region Värmland and other regional and local actors, explores how the public sector can become better at including young people in decision-making and societal development. Through workshops, dialogues, tests, and co-creation with young people, the project develops new ways of working and structures that make youth influence possible. The role is based at Regionens Hus in Karlstad and involves travel within Värmland.

About Youth 2030 Movement

We are a small organization where everyone contributes to the association's overall work as needed. We support each other and participate in joint activities.

Youth 2030 Movement is a non-profit association that brings together democracy activists, young leaders, child rights advocates, and allied adults. We are convinced that a power shift is needed in Sweden – that democracy becomes bigger and stronger if young people get more influence over societal development.

We have our sights set on 2030. Until then, we fight for a lowered voting age and to change the perception of young people among decision-makers in municipalities, regions, and authorities. We do this by challenging, supporting, and contributing new ways of working, analyses, and proven methods for inclusion.

We will not give up until every young person in Sweden has the power to influence society and their own lives. Together, we tear down barriers between young people and power.

About the Role

As an Engagement Developer, you are responsible for creating engagement, building relationships, and carrying out activities that strengthen young people's influence and participation. You work closely with young people, but also together with decision-makers, civil servants, and other partners who want to develop their work regarding youth influence.

An important part of the role is to recruit and support young participants, lead workshops and dialogues, and create meetings where young people and adults can meet and learn from each other. You use Youth 2030 Movement's methods and ways of working and contribute to developing them together with colleagues and partners.

The role suits you if you enjoy building relationships, making people feel included, and turning ideas into practical activities. You need to thrive both working independently and collaborating with others.

Since Youth Hub Värmland is a regional project, the role involves travel within Värmland. We place great value on being present and meeting young people where they are.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Engage and Strengthen Young People

You are responsible for creating conditions for young people to participate, develop, and influence.

This includes among other things:

  1. Recruiting, inspiring, and building relationships with young participants.
  2. Planning and conducting workshops, training, dialogues, and other activities.
  3. Facilitating groups and creating safe spaces where young people can develop ideas and have their voices heard.
  4. Following up on activities and leveraging young people's experiences and perspectives.

Create Meetings Between Young People and Decision-Makers

You contribute to more adults gaining knowledge, motivation, and tools to involve young people.

This includes among other things:

  1. Building relationships with decision-makers, civil servants, and other key actors.
  2. Planning and conducting meetings, workshops, and dialogues where young people and adults meet.

Implement and Develop Activities

You hold activities together from planning to implementation and follow-up.

This includes among other things:

  1. Planning, coordinating, and implementing activities and smaller initiatives.
  2. Being responsible for practical aspects before, during, and after activities.
  3. Documenting implemented activities and contributing to the follow-up of results, effects, and lessons learned.
  4. Ensuring that activities are carried out according to the organization's methods and routines.

Requirements and Merits

We are looking for you who have experience with:

  • Working with young people and creating engagement or participation.
  • Leading groups, workshops, conversations, or other activities.
  • Planning and implementing events or smaller projects.
  • Building relationships and collaborating with different actors.
  • Creating inclusive meetings where people feel welcome to participate.

It is a merit if you also have:

  • Experience working with the public sector and civil society.
  • Experience with democracy, participation, or influence issues.
  • Local knowledge of Värmland.
  • A valid driver's license (Category B).

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You do not need a specific education – we are primarily interested in what you have done, what you are passionate about, and how you meet other people.

Personal Qualities

This is how we would like you to be as a person:

  • You create engagement: You like meeting people and are good at making them feel welcome, included, and motivated to contribute. You are curious, build trust easily, and enjoy seeing people grow and develop.
  • You make things happen: You like turning ideas into action, taking charge of what needs to be done, and solving practical issues along the way. You have a knack for seeing the big picture, identifying the next steps, and creating structure in your work.
  • You dare to test and develop: You dare to try new ways of working, ask questions, and take in new perspectives. You enjoy collaborating, sharing ideas, and finding solutions together with young people, colleagues, and partners.
