We are looking for an engaged and technically skilled engineer for a consultancy assignment via Lernia in Uppsala. The position is a consultancy assignment via Lernia. The assignment is full-time with the possibility of extension for the right person.

The role involves close collaboration with international colleagues, which means that travel is part of the job. You are also expected to contribute to knowledge sharing by supporting, mentoring, and training colleagues as needed. Since the role involves collaboration with teams in the USA, meetings outside regular working hours may occasionally occur, for example around 5:00 PM. However, this is not a regular occurrence.

About the Role

As an Engineer - Validation, you will work with the planning, execution, and documentation of validation activities for processes, equipment, and IT/OT systems. You will participate in projects to ensure that products and processes meet regulatory requirements and internal quality standards, and support production and development during qualification, verification, and troubleshooting.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Planning and execution of validation projects including URS, IQ, OQ, and PQ
  • Development and updating of validation plans, test protocols, reports, and traceability documentation
  • Conducting risk assessments, CAPA activities, and change control related to validation work
  • Collaborating with production, quality, automation, and suppliers to ensure solutions are robust and compatible
  • Performing system and process validations in pilot and production environments, including measurement and analysis of test data
  • Support in technical investigations, deviation management, and implementation of corrective actions
  • Contributing to improvement initiatives and maintaining validation strategies and routines

About You

Formal Competence

  • University degree in engineering or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., chemical engineering, process technology, food technology, mechatronics, or similar)
  • Several years of experience in validation work, quality work, or process development in production-related environments
  • Proficiency in creating and reviewing validation documentation such as URS, IQ/OQ/PQ, and test protocols
  • Experience in statistical analysis of test results and measurement methods, as well as using relevant data collection tools such as skids, autoclaves, CIP/SIP systems
  • Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications

It is an advantage if you have experience with:

  • Validation in the Life Science or pharmaceutical industry and knowledge of current regulations (e.g., GMP)
  • Validation of automation systems, PLC/SCADA/DCS, and MES systems (e.g., PAS-X)
  • Work with quality and deviation management systems as well as CAPA processes
  • Project management or coordination of validation and qualification activities
  • Use of risk analysis tools (FMEA) and statistical methods (e.g., Minitab)

As a person, you are meticulous, structured, and have an analytical approach. You work proactively, enjoy teamwork, and can clearly communicate technical and regulatory information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You have a practical focus and the drive to lead validation work from planning to completed reporting.
