Job Description

The position involves alternating work at the emergency department and a neurological inpatient ward.

As a counselor at the emergency department, you will meet patients with varying psychosocial needs, e.g., unsustainable home situations, worry, and anxiety. Your duties also include interventions for patients who have been affected by serious illness and traumatic events such as accidents, abuse, as well as support for relatives in the event of death. Acute psychological crisis support, mapping conversations, support in contact with authorities and other societal actors, as well as information about societal resources are common interventions.

You collaborate with the multiprofessional team to provide patients and relatives with the psychosocial support needed in acute situations. Since the operations are characterized by acute interventions, you will have a varied job with days that usually cannot be planned in advance and at times a high work pace.

On the neurological inpatient ward, people who have suffered an acute stroke and other neurological diagnoses are treated. The tasks mainly consist of mapping conversations, crisis management in a changed life situation for both patients and relatives, as well as support for the patient and relatives based on psychosocial and socio-legal factors. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the multiprofessional team.

Working hours are daytime, Monday to Friday.

Work Group

The employment is part of the Rehab Group, which is part of Movement and Health, included in Primary Care Central Östergötland. The unit provides counselors, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists within the hospital's operations. The counselors in the Rehab Group work towards different clinics at the university hospital and have continuous professional meetings, joint supervision, and collaborate during absence.

About You

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work. Experience of counseling work within healthcare and/or further education in the area, as well as being a licensed healthcare counselor, is meritorious. You are interested in development and have a professional approach as well as the ability to organize and prioritize your work. It is important that you have good initiative, are flexible, and are used to working both independently and in teams with other professional categories. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish, both in speech and writing, and hold a driver's license.

As a person, you are secure and open. Furthermore, you are flexible and thrive in an operation with short care periods, varied tasks, acute cases, and at times a high work pace. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
