At the City Mission, we meet people in vulnerable life situations every day. Now we are looking for you who want to make a real difference.

What we offer you

Östergötland City Mission’s activity Family Support Measures supports children and young people (0–20 years) and their families towards a better life. The rights of children and young people have a natural and central place in the construction, development, and execution of the activity. The target group has varying social and psychosocial issues, such as relationship or school problems, mental health issues, cooperation difficulties, violence, or other relationship problems between parents and within the family.

We are now looking for an engaged colleague for the role of Coordinating Social Pedagogue. Here, you will become part of a work group with fifteen colleagues where you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for people every day. We work to create a more humane society and see our employees as our most important resource.

About the job

As a Coordinating Social Pedagogue, you combine your work with close collaboration with the unit manager and operational work in the activity. You participate in meetings with commissioners together with the unit manager, you are responsible for receiving and distributing assignments to the work group, and in the unit manager's absence, you are responsible for leading staff meetings.

You work operationally by providing support measures to children and young people where the goal may be to handle an emerging crisis situation or a demanding life situation. Your tasks include facilitating communication and interaction in the family, strengthening relationships, working with conflict management and boundary setting, or creating conditions for structure. Measures can be given in the form of motivational work, supportive measures in relation to the family system, and network-oriented work. You carry out the measures primarily in the home environment but also in our activity's premises. Collaboration with social services, healthcare, schools, and other agencies that may be important for the assignment is an important part of the work.

Is this you?

We are looking for you who are communicative and have an easy time creating good relationships, alliances, and security with participants. You are structured, flexible, and responsible. You see opportunities in every meeting and solutions within the framework of the activity's assignment. As a social pedagogue, you work flexibly and independently in your cases but also together with colleagues. You collaborate with internal and external partners to give the participant the opportunity for a favorable further activity content. Therefore, you need to have a very good ability to work in a team while being self-reliant and proactive in your assignment. Cultural and language competence is desirable and meritorious.

We want you to have

  • A bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences field, such as social work or behavioral science with social law, or similar education combined with relevant further education or experience.
  • Experience in authority practice.
  • Experience with the BBiC process.
  • A valid driver's license (Category B).

It is meritorious if you have

  • Experience in social work, such as treatment/support measures directed towards children and young people as well as families.
  • Language and cultural competence.
