About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand custody, and client transport.
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is to provide education on the upcoming children's and youth departments; elementary school, upper secondary school, adapted elementary school, adapted upper secondary school. The environment is designed to meet the specific needs of this target group within the Prison and Probation Service. The activity is part of the nationally cohesive educational activity which also includes education equivalent to Komvux (Adult Education). It aims to provide every student with an equal and quality education.
The education for children and young people is mainly conducted through on-site teaching, in a safe and structured environment. The education is integrated with other interventions within the Prison and Probation Service, to support the development and future opportunities of children and young people.
You will be placed at the Headquarters in Norrköping. Regular travel is part of the position.
Job Description
As a school counselor, you are part of the student health team for children and young people. You work with promoting, preventive, and remedial psychosocial interventions. In your role, you will also collaborate with other professional groups, both within and outside the agency. The work involves, among other things, working with support, motivation, and crisis conversations with students, making psychosocial assessments as a basis for the student health team's work, participating in student health meetings, and collaborating with school staff, and when possible and appropriate, also collaborating with guardians and external actors. In addition, you contribute to the school's work on safety, attendance, and study environment.
Qualifications
In your role, you are a skilled counselor with the willingness and ability to motivate, inspire, and guide clients in difficult life situations. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematic approaches. The work is carried out both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues within the student health team.

You are also aware of and have an understanding of how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute with your attitude to ensure that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for you who have:
- A degree in Social Work.
- Category B driver's license
- Experience working with children and young people
- Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
- Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems
The following are also meritorious:
- Training in CBT, MI, or other conversation methodologies
- Further education in children's and young people's mental health
- Experience as a school counselor or work within student health
- Experience working in socially vulnerable environments
- Experience collaborating with social services and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP)
- Experience working with middle school and upper secondary school students
- Experience from adapted schools
- Experience in remote supervision/mentoring
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Education Act, secrecy legislation)
- Knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF) and mental ill-health in children and young people
