As Project Manager, you will play a key role in the development of LKAB's future mining operations. You will be responsible for coordinating, leading, and creating the prerequisites for two of our most significant future initiatives in Kiruna – the pre-study for a future main level and the development of the Per Geijer mineral deposit.

Both initiatives are strategically vital for LKAB's long-term development and involve investments in the multi-billion SEK range. The role entails overall responsibility for ensuring direction, coordination, and successful deliveries through complex phases where technology, ongoing mining operations, environmental issues, and permitting matters intersect.

The sustainable transition starts with us

We are facing our biggest challenge so far – ensuring that Sweden and Europe have what is needed to transition. So that we can live the life we want, today and tomorrow. Just as we want to improve the future, we want to develop everyone who is with us on this journey, both personally and professionally. Do you want to help lay the foundation for the life we live and the world around us?

Your role

As Project Manager, you will have a central role in holding together and driving some of LKAB's most crucial future initiatives in Kiruna. The assignment is about ensuring direction, progress, and the big picture.

In the role, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate the work between the pre-study for the future main level in Kiruna and the development of Per Geijer, Europe's largest deposit of rare earth elements.
  • Ensure that project goals are met regarding safety, quality, time, cost, and business benefit.
  • Be responsible for coordination between different projects, functions, and external actors.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams with participants from across the organization as well as external collaboration partners.
  • Be a central contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including authorities and other strategic collaboration partners.
  • Contribute to well-founded decisions through clear reporting and communication to steering groups and management.

You will be part of the department's management group and report to the Department Manager for Projects and the steering group for the initiatives. The role involves significant responsibility for the implementation of some of Sweden's most extensive industrial investments.

The majority of working hours should be in Kiruna; other locations may be discussed.

What you bring with you

We are looking for you who are an experienced project manager or project leader with documented ability to lead and coordinate large and complex investment projects through various project phases. You combine strong leadership with a strategic perspective and have the ability to create engagement, direction, and results even in complex environments with many stakeholders.

To succeed in the role, we see that you:

  • Have experience leading large investment projects, preferably in the multi-billion SEK range.
  • Have the ability to create structure, coordination, and clarity in complex project environments.
  • Are accustomed to handling interfaces between different operations, projects, and external actors.
  • Build trust and create good collaborations both internally and externally.
  • Have a business-minded approach and can balance strategy, benefit, risk, and feasibility.
  • Are confident in dialogue with steering groups, management groups, and other decision-makers.
  • Communicate clearly and can translate complex issues into decision support and concrete choices.

In addition, you have:

  • A university degree, e.g., Civil Engineer, or equivalent experience assessed by the employer.
  • Several years of experience leading projects from early stages through implementation and handover.
  • Experience from larger investment projects, e.g., from mining, industry, infrastructure, or construction projects.
  • Experience with environmental and permitting processes.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • A valid driver's license (Category B).

We strive for a fair and objective recruitment process. Therefore, we usually do not ask for cover letters. Instead, we ask you to answer questions related to the specific position you are applying for. Your answers help us understand your competence and experience, so take your time to answer as clearly and thoroughly as possible.

We are soon entering the holiday season, so we would like to inform you that the recruitment process will take a break during the summer.
