Your Role

We are now looking for a Senior Database Specialist to join our team. Depending on your profile, you will primarily work with Oracle or MySQL/PostgreSQL.

As a Senior Database Specialist, you will be a key person in one of our database teams with overall responsibility for operations, stability, security, and further development of our database environments.

You will work in a modern platform based on Linux and Nutanix (hypervisor), where we handle several database technologies in parallel. The role involves both operational responsibility and strategic contributions to how we build future-proof, automated, and secure solutions.

Examples of tasks:

• Installation, configuration, operation, and optimization of databases
• Performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
• Ensuring backup/restore, high availability, and continuity
• Working with automation and improving operational processes
• Collaborating with development teams on database design and optimization
• Contributing to security work and compliance with requirements in the database environment
• Participating in the development of our platform (including virtualization and infrastructure)

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are an experienced and confident specialist who thrives in a team where knowledge sharing, responsibility, and quality are in focus.

You have:

• Several years of experience in database operations (Oracle or MySQL/PostgreSQL)
• Good knowledge of Linux
• Experience with complex production environments
• A strong security mindset and understanding of robust solutions
• Ability to work in a structured, analytical, and solution-oriented manner
• Good communication skills and a natural team spirit
• Fluent Swedish and English in speech and writing

Meritorious experience

• Virtualization platforms such as Nutanix or VMware
• Automation/scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
• Experience with hybrid/cloud environments
• Work according to agile methods

The team is currently located where the operations are conducted, but we are open to dialogue regarding the setup for the right candidate. We primarily see that you can be based in one of the locations Järfälla, Växjö, Linköping, Karlskrona, or Jönköping.

The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to the current security clearance regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
